A Navy officer accused of involvement with anti-Semitic groups has been disciplined and faces reassignment when he returns to duty, a Navy spokesman said Thursday.

Lt. Cmdr. John F. Sharpe had a disciplinary hearing, called a captain's mast, last week, said Jim Brantley, a spokesman for U.S. Fleet Forces Command. Brantley said the military had taken "appropriate administrative and disciplinary action" against Sharpe. He said the Privacy Act prohibits the release of further information.

Earlier this year, Sharpe was accused of stating anti-Semitic and supremacist views in an article on Catholic extremists published by the Alabama-based Southern Poverty Law Center.
