MSNBC reports AA female, Stepha Henry missing!

22 year olds missing since Memorial Day weekend.

It's summer and time for pretty white women to have endless ad nauseum news stories about being missing. BUT! It sounds now like MSNBC has gotten the message and they're reporting on Stepha Henry, an African-American woman, being missing. And, Ms. Henry is also drop-dead gorgeous.

Good on MSNBC and prayers for Ms. Henry and her family.

6. You miss the whole point

This post is about change that has been made from direct activism by places on the Internet like DU and others. Had we all not ever made such a ruckus about how only missing pretty white women were featured in the MSM, the tragic story of a missing AA woman like Ms. Henry would remain obscure. Now Ms. Henry has the same fighting chance of being found a white woman gets from mass MSM exposure. Stepha wouldn't even be featured in the MSM if her family didn't want (and need) the MSM exposure to help find her.

About 3 years ago, my 20-something neice went missing. This girl was frankly not very pretty and was rather overweight. She also had a mixed race baby. This was happening at the same time some missing pretty white woman was constantly on TV with all the fill-in-the-blank type stories and candid sexy pictures. My neice was found dead 2 weeks later in a field about 50 miles from her home. CNN never called. MSNBC never called either. But they kept running the stories about the pretty white girl. The inequity of it all is what is disgusting.

If you want to call it politics, that's fine. The point is that through the politics of it WE have made an impact and our efforts have helped the Ms. Henry's of the world.

7. My guess would be that regarding of the race, missing person

still has to be pretty to be featured by MSM. The OP seems to have no problem with that.

Being cynical about the MSM here, maybe they wouldn't pay much attention to a missing, homely white girl.

Maybe we should pay more attention to missing males. Then we might intervene with the potential murderers before they murder. (Though it can be the other way round, just so often it is a male killer of a female).
