Fred Thompson is BORING
Edited on Tue Jun-12-07 11:05 PM by hnmnf
I'm watching him on Leno right now. What do people like so much about this guy? Where is the Charisma that I have been hearing about? The man is just boring as hell.

1. He has a really really deep voice
And he has folksy anecdotes. Basically he's the daddy figure the GOP craves.

3. And his longest stint in any one profession was Washington Lobbyist for S&L's
right before they bilked American taxpayers for lots of money.

Just getting that info out as much as possible :)

7. Yeah but he has a "southern accent" and according to the "pundits"
that will make all the dumshits in the "heartland" vote for him.

Personally I think he looks like the Big Mouth Billy Bass some asshole gave me for a joke retirement gift a few years ago. And he talks like he's got gas and is ready to burp.

That's a pretty good comparison to Fred, but the Creature from the Black Lagoon is his twin.

he is dull as dishwater and I hope the FredHeads cling to him like toilet paper clings to their butt cracks. They deserve each other.

The lady actress from the Gilmore Girls (I don't know her name, she plays the mom) came out after his segment and laughed and announced she was quitting show business and running for president. It was pretty funny. Well it was better than Fred :freak:

You know that jerry garcia is turning over in his grave -- the FredHeads. I mean, how odd that the conservatives who have hated hippies for decades should choose to morph the name of the followers of the Grateful Dead and use it to name the loyal sheeple of the good old boy crept keeper. He's grateful he isn't dead.

30. If they want to keep running Reagan, that's fine by me...
the fucker first won the Presidency almost 30 years ago, that's an eternity in political time, and any excuse to poke holes in the so-called "Reagan legacy", is a good thing.

In fact, I hope they resurrect Reagan's corpse on the stage during the Presidental debates like they have been in the Repuke primary debates, I'd like to see our candidate really smack them down hard on some of these revisionist lies they keep repeating.

40. Reagan DID have charisma and charm...
those were his strengths. I think Thompson has neither. He's just a so-so B-list actor who sucks up to the right people in the Republican power structure, that is where the Reagan comparison ends.

44. Yes, I agree somewhat...
however I have read that some Democratic leaders and other adversaries have said that they actually personally liked the man, just hated his politics, so I think he did have some personability about him, at least in his early years.

I do agree with this, that much of his persona was media generated, which is what carried him through to the latter part of his Presidency, when as I said, his illness was beginning to take its toll, and he appeared to be befuddled much of the time, which of course he was.

On the other hand, Bush's so-called "charm" is a total media/PR fabrication based on lies.

35. Reagan, at least, could ad lib.
Don't forget, in his early days, he'd receive a ticker tape with the basic box-score info from a game, and he'd re-create the baseball game in a live radio broadcast. I always found that rather remarkable, and it probably served him well as both an actor and a politician.

I doubt Fred's ever done anything so mentally demanding as that.

age and Alzheimer's definitely took their toll during the latter part of his Presidency. I don't think Thompson has that kind of charisma or wittiness, not by a long shot.

32. Because he is such a tough and relentless DA
on LAW AND ORDER. :sarcasm:

That show is one of the most popular series on television, (ever), and the ditto heads and sheep of this country think that the script he reads each week is REAL.

It's like ' O golly gee, look how he solves the cases on the show!! Wouldn't it be swell if he was our Prezdint, then he could solve all of our problems too!!"

Ronnie Reagan did a great job in the movies and the TV shows he was in too and look how well he turned out for us all!:sarcasm: again!!

Many Americans have a tenuous grasp on Reality, methinks.

for the most part anyway. Media packaging is what it's all about. I know someone who wouldn't vote for Kerry because they thought his wife was bitchy. :wtf: People have no clue anymore, they just wait for the media to hold their hands and tell them what to think.

So, as their spokemodel, is Sam a delusional lunatic, or a paid-for hack? You decide!
