Bush Water Carrier Spector to WH: Let's make a Deal!!
snip>

Specter said that he'd spoken to the current White House counsel Fred Fielding today about the subpoenas for Taylor and Miers. Specter went on to muse about a possible compromise. He'd prefer that there be a public hearing and that the hearing be under oath, but said that's not necessary, given that it's a crime to lie to investigators, even if it's not under oath. But Specter said there needs to be a transcript -- otherwise it would be much more difficult to hold an aide to account for lying.

So if the White House offers to hand over Taylor and Miers for private interviews with a transcript (but no oath), Specter would agree. And given that a court battle between Congress and the White House is likely to drag on for months upon months, you can bet that Democrats would give such a deal serious consideration.

"Specter told reporters yesterday that he spoke with White House counsel Fred Fielding and made a counterproposal, suggesting that Rove and the other aides be interviewed by a small number of lawmakers in public, with a transcript prepared but not under oath. He said Fielding listened attentively but indicated he was not authorized to negotiate -- but said he would take the suggestion to Bush."

4. More "one-party rule" kabuki.
Gosh ... sure makes me feel good that one Republican can come to an agreement with another Republican. Shouldn't everyone feel good about that? Uh-huh. :dunce:

6. Bingo!
These are the REAL questions we should all be asking. Why do certain people in this gov't have so much power? Who the hell are they and who controls them? Who the HELL is Karl Rove - a guy who doesn't even have a college degree has an office next to the POTUS? I think we can all now safely say that KKKarl is junior's handler, but who handles Karl?

This is not just politics and it gives me the creeps. They must sit around and laugh at us every evening:grr:

7. Well if the latest NBC poll
is even looked at by the group of whatevers we sent to DC last fall, they better realize the gig is up unless they start hanging this admin out to dry and start following the letter of the law - no more f'g deals and I have sent an email to Conyers and Leahy stating just that.

No more deals. Period. We are a nation of laws (or at least used to be) and it is high time we started enforcing them and putting the cabal on notice it ain't business as usual anymore.
