Rahmatullah Hanefi freed from accusations: Emergency confirms
Edited on Sat Jun-16-07 08:08 AM by demoleft
Emergency, the Italian Independent Association that gives free medical aid in war zones, announced it.

Rahmatullah Hanefi
is an Emergency volunteer and head of personnel at the former Emergency hospital in Lashkargah, Afghanistan.
He had a key role in the release of Mastrogiacomo, the italian journalist kidnapped by Talebans.

He was immediately after arrested by the government under non one knows which suspicions and accusations.
I believe it was due to his connections with people in villages close to Talibans - that allowed him to be the right mediator in the matter. It's my supposition.
The arrest (and the probable tortures) of Hanefy caused Emergency to stop its activity in Afghanistan.

Now he's freed from accusations and soon will be released in the hands of Emergency. They say his health is better than expected.

The release of Mastrogiacomo provoked reactions against the Italian government, expecially from Bush and his national and international crew. They can't stand people surviving. The reactions were rejected by our Minister D'Alema as an intrusion.

Good news, my friends DUers. A life is spared in that hell.

Ciao

ps: News is only in Italian... Here's the address:
