Now this is interesting...... |
|
I have had some security cameras installed around the perimeter of my house.
This morning when I went outside to turn on the sprinklers, I noticed one of my cameras had been tampered with (that, or we had one heck of a wind storm which I must have slept through***), due to the fact the camera was now moved from its original position, and now focused away from the walkway and gate and downward onto the bushes. When I went to observe what was being filmed on the monitor, it was continuing to show that the walkway and the gate were being filmed/monitored.
Just to make sure I went back TWICE to look and see where the camera was pointed - into the bushes, not in the direction of the walkway or gate whatsoever.
So, I'm wondering.....why is my monitor showing me supposedly "LIVE FOOTAGE" of my gate and walkway being monitored, when in fact the camera has been moved and focused solely on the shrubbery?
For those who have security cameras, one might want to make sure that the cameras have not been "influenced" like mine apparently have been. For how long now, is a good question.
Any thoughts on how such a 'manipulation' of security cameras can occur without the monitor filming the bushes, would be greatly appreciated.....***

1. well, its clearly not "live footage" |
|
check the settings on all - see if you are looking at a still picture on the others - see if anything is moving, etc. Once you confirm that they are set properly to give live feed, see what happens when one is turned off or disconnected from the system - see if the screen goes dark, or just freezes ( I am betting on that)
if that is all true, then you just need to determine how it got moved/disconnected, but there is no mystery why you see what you see. You may need to buy a second set of cameras to watch the cameras... :)

I'm going to go and walk through there and see if it records.
Otherwise, I think I'm going to have to wait until the a.m.
Appreciate the feedback and will keep you posted.

However my question is why is it showing it to be live footage when it clearly isnt?
That's what is weird.

8. No unfortunately I'm not too schooled in this realm. |
|
Ha. Which of course makes us all the more impressionable (and vulnerable) with electronic technology.
Im still learning how to post pictures on the internet/email!
But I'm learning....

Get a friend or neighbor to help you. Have them 'get in front of the camera' while you're watching the monitor....communicate via cell-phone or walkie-talkies while you're performing your 'tests' to see if the camera is really picking up what's going on in it's view (and what the view actually is).
If the camera is making a recording (presumably) .... you could do a test yourself walking the walkway to the gate or whatever - check the time stamps, etc.
Lastly if there is no recording and no live person available, I guess you'd have to put "something that moves" near the walkway/gate and see if the camera 'picks it up' ..... I dunno, a pinwheel stuck in the ground, an oscillating sprinkler that's 'on' moving back & forth, or uh....I dunno....it's late....something else that 'moves' and is different from what the camera usually would see.
Hope you figure it out and that all is working properly.

10. Thanks Mind. I think you hit the nail on the head. |
|
I will hopefully recruit some pals tomorrow to "perform" in front of the camera.
great points.
This apparently happened recently, because I have watched my dogs go back in that area and the cameras were obviously working at the time.
It's weird stuff.
