Internet Radio Day Of Silence
Many Internet broadcasters have suspended their operations today (mine included) to protest the new RIAA rate structure that will shut down hundreds of independent voices around the U.S. This is not just a battle over listening to tunes on the Internet, but a battleground on taking on the the big corporates that want to control the future of broadcasting and the music industry. Here's what's happening:

CALL YOUR SENATORS AND YOUR REPRESENTATIVE NOW TO ASK THEM TO CO-SPONSOR THE INTERNET RADIO EQUALITY ACT, S. 1353 IN THE SENATE AND H.R. 2060 IN THE HOUSE!

The future of Internet radio is in immediate danger!

Royalty rates for webcasters have been drastically increased by a recent ruling and are due to go into effect on July 15 (retroactive to Jan 1, 2006!). If the increased rates remain unchanged, the majority of webcasters will go bankrupt and silent on this date. Internet radio needs your help!

The Internet Radio Equality Act has recently been introduced in both the House and Senate to save the Internet radio industry. Please call your senators and your representative to ask them to co-sponsor the Internet Radio Equality Act.

To those who have called...thank you! For those who have a few minutes, please give a call to your Senator and get the 51 votes that could empower many of us.

Cheers...

2. Here's a plug for internet radio!
I'm a songwriter i put out a new album ever couple of years, the last two albums i released got picked up by internet radio.

It's improved my record sales 10 fold, and that's directly from being heard on internet radio. If you're in the music biz it's great, especially for independents.

But if you just enjoy listening and discovering new music you're also a winner, so please contact your congress critter and ask them to save this great outlet.
