Restoring law and justice.

The ACLU and other civil liberties groups have declared today a Day of Action to Restore Law and Justice ( https://secure.aclu.org/site/SPageServer?pagename=june_home ). The ACLU will be “rallying on Capitol Hill and visiting congressional offices asking Congress to restore the right of habeas corpus.” Christy Hardin Smith has toll-free call-in numbers so you can contact your representatives, or sign MoveOn’s petition HERE. ACLU’s FindHabeas will be live-blogging throughout the day.

From FindHabeas today:

Alright, so it’s easily 90 degrees and I’m blogging from a blackberry so I can find some shade. People are starting to arrive in force. I’d say we’ve got a couple hundred milling about the site of the rally. We’ve got a little bit of the Boss (Springsteen, not Cheney) playing over the speaker system. Things should be getting going very soon. And we’ve got a contingent of young men and women in orange jumpsuits with the names of detainees taped to their chests. Wild.
