What really struck me about Ann Coulter... |
|
...is not what you think.
On Randi Rhodes, I listen to Coulter shout down, insult, and try to drown out Elizabeth Edwards. And all the time, I'm thinking, That voice.
Her voice in itself is enough to send me over the edge.
When she gave a little giggle at the end, chills ran down my spine. It was the exact sort of giggle you hear from one of those mean, nasty popular girls in teen movies.
She's quite good at the artful dodge, too. Clearly been schooled by Rove and Cheney in saying something and then denying it, or claiming the opposite.
No wonder the righties love her. It's a very difficult balance to muzzle her and still protect the First Amendment, and she knows it.
Mrs. Edwards did precisely the right thing to her.

1. Oh, my dear............ |
|
As I get older, voices matter to me more. Coulter's voice is one of the worst.
Bush runs a very close second, and I can't watch him because the dissonance between the body language and the words has me constantly on edge. Karl Rove should be muzzled......although taking away his e-mails would help too. Can't stand Gonzales' voice.
In fact, you know, none of the Bush family have decent voices.......genetic defect.

... my voice actually sounds like Senator Stabenow's. I remember it when she was on Ed Schultz... when was that? End of March/begining of April?
And DID YOU HEAR (sorry, for him you have to put it in all caps) Bradley Schlozman's voice?? :wow:
Ah, Alberto Gonzales. Tsk, tsk... such a high-pitched, not-so-very-commanding voice for the Fearless Highest Law Enforcer. It kind of reminds me of a big car or SUV with a wimpy horn.

4. "She's got the look"... |
|
The generic skinny blonde botoxed look, that is. The look all the Fox News ladies are trying to copy.
We should use this onservation as a positive. Democratic women are beautiful in all shapes, sizes, and colors. Republican women try to copy the One True Look™.

14. There's a half-serious "joke" around this house |
|
That there is a secret farm somewhere cloning right wingers, since they all seem to go to the same hairdresser, the same tailor, and they all have one of about three faces......roundish pudding faces with prissy lips, the always fashionable nosferatu face, or the bull-necked military face (for guys who never get near the battlefield).

6. Remember when she was so piqued when Harriet Myers was nominated? |
|
Because Myers went to *gasp!* a state college! She was apoplectic about it. Myers' lack of qualifications were less problematic to Ann than were her lack of social credentials. When her elitist attitude was pointed out to her she made some lame back-pedaling excuse about how only conservative Ivy Leaguers could successfully challenge the arguments of the pointy-headed liberal intellectuals who dominate legal discourse. Or something. It was pretty unconvincing but it didn't get much attention because it paled in comparison to many of her more outrageous statements. But I noticed it. I think what happened was that she forgot, for a moment, that she is supposed to appeal to a base of working class, disaffected white male Dittoheads. She let her true colors show and she realized it real quick. She's never been particularly good at pulling off the faux-populist thing IMO, because that nasal upper-class Connecticut twang gives her away, but her deluded fans seem to buy it.
Some blogger, I forget who, theorized that her success stems from appealing to a certain subset of guys who know that no haughty, upper crust, skinny blonde will ever give them the time of day. Ann Coulter, when she spews her racist and hateful venom, allows them to believe, for a brief and shiny moment, that the nasty popular girls have finally noticed them.

10. Ann Coulter is a money making enterprise |
|
she is the poster "hate girl" of the right wing.
The more base and the more foul she is...the more she makes.
Think about it...the right wing loves the idea of this slender blond woman that some find attractive being the mouthpiece of all their most base and foul thoughts and ideas.

12. Money-making for WHO exactly? |
|
The right-wing that funds her also buys her books in order to make them appear to be "best sellers," when they have trouble giving them away. It's money from one pocket into the other. It's not a money MAKING enterprise, more likely its a tax-dodging enterprise of some sort.

the more hate she spews...the richer she gets...
she has allowed herself to be the mouthpiece of the right..
and if she converts voters or appeals to voters of her same ilk...well then the money the rich rightwingers are giving her will be worth it..

11. I find her entire persona repulsive. I don't give her the time of day. |
|
I don' worry my mind over such a trivial twit. Her sole purpose is to make money by selling books.
