When I saw the Supreme Court ruling, I seriously thought it was a joke.
I cannot believe what these men on the bench are doing to our country, our courts and our rights.

I say that because I do not at this point see the women in such positions doing the same thing. That is certainly NOT to say some women would follow suit.

2. shance
I know. . .every time ya think it can get worse. . . yikes. . .

I remember shortly after the coup in "00 listening to these bozo's and thinking, "they're lieing" and "they're not really gonna get away with this. . ." and then they would.

It was baffling to me.

Now 7 years later my country is, as another poster said. . .is "unrecognizable to me."

A deeper abiding voice says, the pendulum will swing back and "this is unsustainable" really.

Here's some good news though. . .

Maybe we can make it all better very soon with our hearts and our minds.

best & always enjoy your posts

3. Wish it were true...
A deeper abiding voice says, the pendulum will swing back and "this is unsustainable" really.

...but the 5-4 SCOTUS margin we've seen this week will continue for years if not decades. And there's not a thing we can do through the ballot box to change it -- except for the cold comfort of making sure that the margin remains at a rock-solid 5-4 rather than a rock-solid 6-3 or 7-2.

And I can hardly wait for the SCOTUS to review the new wireless-wiretapping and "enemy combatant" bill. Even though the previous SCOTUS rejected the notion of a President being able to incarcerate a U.S. citizen for life without trial, can there be any doubt that this Court will, by a 5-4 margin, overturn the decision and give the President that authority? :scared:

And, at that moment, the United States will be forever past the point of rescue. :-(

4. They are not immortals
Nor is our misleadership unchangeable.

Chin up dear. The rule of law must be restored as does habeas corpus and the 14th amendment repealed.

To say nothing of HAVA, NCLB, MCA, and the patriot act.

We've certainly got our work cut out for us.
