"Gas Prices Suck" bumper sticker seen on Dodge PU truck
It was a large truck, probably 3/4 ton or better, not 4-wheel drive, but it was a quad cab. Now there were no Bush stickers or anything else to identify it as a freeper mobile but I was struck by the disconnect. Did the owner not realize that out actions (like our decisions to drive vehicles that get 15 miles per gallon) have an impact on gas prices. If we as a nation drove fewer large vehicles like that truck and more fuel-efficient models, gas prices might be cheaper. It always amuses me when the tv news interviews people complaining about fuel prices while they are filling up their gigantic SUVs. I don't want to criticize this person out of hand (he might have needed his truck for work) but it was still an odd thing to see. This is Texas after all, where apparently it is our God-give right to use as much gas as is humanly possible.

1. Was it clean and shiny?
Or was it a working truck?

3. It looked fairly clean
No farm tags. It was hauling furniture.

2. My town is freaking covered up with those loud suckers.
I'd rather have bikers living next door. There are SOME people you can trust. ;)

4. Trucks are functional vehicles,
Sometimes used for towing. Not to make excuses for gas-inefficient vehicles, but at some times, nothing but a huge truck will do.

5. Yes I know but I was just noticing the disconnect
Around here, I would say easily half of them are only driven back and forth to work.

6. You're right, there is a disconnect.
There's not much point in complaining about high gas prices if you're driving a gas guzzler.
It's no use to say I wish gas were cheaper so I could afford to take my Hummer on a road trip.

"...easily half of them are only driven back and forth to work."
And, about 90% of them have only the driver inside, no passenger. Right?
