I love Charlie Rangel--very intelligent about a huge range of issues, very wry and witty, and very wise about people. Rangel is one of the best in the whole Congress, a true great. I used to fume at all the abuse Rangel took, as the then-ranking member on the Ways and Means Committee before we won the recent elections, from this cartoonishly pricky bastard Bill Thomas from California, running the Committee then, shutting Democrats out. I used to wish that Rangel, sitting right there, would get off one really good belt right at Thomas's mouth. "Comity...it does not promote comity..." Rangel is wonderful.
