And I grew up with Rethuglicans who were members of the John Birch Society. One thing I learned is that conservative Rethuglicans always have 2 lives - one is the social facade, the other is the more interesting one. I often asked my parents, "Why don't you just be who you really are?" I was told I was saying something ridiculous.

It turns out that my dad was gay (or bisexual, more likely gay with a cover); he never told me. I had always fought for gay rights, just out of a sense of justice. I guess my evil, manipulative mother was his cover. I was the child who was conceived to land him and the Maat Family money; my sister was the child conceived in a desperate attempt to hold on to the Maat Family money (my grandparents')(the manipulation on my mother's part).

I always thought that my dad was a loner and an alchoholic, and, to tell you the truth, I never inquired past that. My parents were divorced for decades. I guess he never wanted to discuss his orientation; my mother (with whom I rarely have contact) informed my sister.

Always two lives. Weird. I was the kid who went off and made my own life, after I decided I couldn't take that snakes' den.
