Paging Dr. Gupta! Paging Dr. Gupta! Look up the definition of the word FUDGE. |
|
According to the American Heritage Dictionary:
v.tr. To fake or falsify: fudge casualty figures. To evade (an issue, for example); dodge.
Michael Moore used reliable and CURRENT sources for the statistics he cited. For Sanjay Gupta to imply that he "fudged" the numbers is an insult.
After Larry King realized that they couldn't prove Moore's numbers were wrong, he then suggests that perhaps Moore was "overreacting" in taking offense at Gupta's attack. Oh yeah when someone falsely calls me a liar and I try to save my reputation by defending myself, that's "overreacting."
Sanjay Gupta is obviously pushing his own agenda and has no interest in taking the greedy and corrupt health insurance companies out of the loop. He conveniently failed to disclose that his "expert" he used in his hit piece is a right wing think tank shill for the insurance industry.

2. I get the impression that Gupta may be a patsie |
|
I have seen him speak on other issues and he doesn't seem to be a crony. I get the feeling the peace he did was in his view supposed to be a devils advocate issue. But the source of his material may have come with an agenda.

Gupta should have, at the very least, mentioned there MAY be a disagreement over the figures.

6. Exactly, you can debate which is the best statistical source, but |
|
you don't call someone a LIAR because you don't like their numbers.

7. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I SWEAR I heard Gupta say that his expert's "ONLY" |
|
affiliation was with Vanderbilt, as in NO OTHER connections
if I heard him correctly, he's LYING his ASS OFF, and Moore said he'd have the info on this guy on his web site
can't wait, as the link above shows him to be clearly affiliated with the health care industry now, and NOT Vanderbilt at all!!!!

9. Guess who is the "independent chairman" of the Deloitte Center for Health Solutions? |
|
Tommy G. Thompson, the former Health and Human Services (HHS) secretary http://www.deloitte.com/dtt/employee_profile/0,1007,sid%253D80772%2526cid%253D86217,00.htmlYou can check out their website. They don't seem to support anything other than the same old "free market" solutions that the Republicans have been selling for years. http://www.deloitte.com/dtt/section_node/0,1042,sid%253D80772,00.html

13. Just checked the video of the interview and he DEFINITELY claimed that |
|
his expert's "ONLY" affiliation was with Vanderbilt University. That is blatantly untrue.
Methinks that the good doctor is either "fudging" (to use his own term) or is merely reading what others have written for him without any question as to the veracity of the content.

16. Gupta clearly and intentionally lied |
|
But of course its not like its the first time a corporate media type ever lied about shit, so we should forgive him and swallow the propaganda he is handing out. That's just the way republicon corporate media "journalists" are. Smirk, smirk, smirk.

17. I was absolutely FURIOUS about how Gupta, Blitzer, King and CNN handled the whole Michael Moore |
|
appearance.
It was as though their intention from the start was to smear Moore by falsely claiming that he LIED in his film. In the process of CNN's smear job, they themselves, using the "good" doctor as their mouthpiece, told some egregious lies.
Moore did not "falsify or fabricate" his data. He used reputable and current sources.
Gupta's "expert" did INDEED have affiliations outside of Vanderbilt University, which Gupta adamantly denied.
CNN obviously has a political agenda in their handling of this story. There was not an ounce of true journalism in what CNN did.

11. Moore & Gupta quoted 2 different sources for statistics |
|
Moore was quoting the Dept of Health & Human Services statistics and Gupta came out of right field and was using World Health numbers. Did anyone else pick up on that? It was such a thing of beauty to see Moore steer the interview back to the real issues and expose Gupta's "expert" with an agenda. IMHO, Gupta can still taste the crow he ate an hour ago. :D

15. Michael was brilliant.... |
|
I sensed he was very, very disgusted, however (rightfully so). I hope he doesn't give up on speaking the hard truth NOT in soundbites, even though it must feel as though he's beating his head against a wall with MSM.
I sincerely hope he gets retribution - public acknowledgement of his work and the TRUE journalistic value he brings to the issues rather than constantly being berated by smug MSM types spouting the same talking points.
I wonder if he's scheduled to appear on any other networks after the CNN thing? MSM may be terrified to have him on, or they might play strictly to "hype" and have him on only for entertainment value, not for a genuine discussion.
I loved it when he went so far as to say to Wolf, "Oh, and Wolf, thanks for saying DURING THE BREAK that you liked the movie." LOL! He's not letting them get away with ANYTHING! Way to go, Michael Moore!!!
I wish he'd re-release Farenheit 9/11. Many more would be open to what he presents there now; heck, it's been proven now, so you don't have to take a leap of faith for most of what he presents.

It's a disgrace that they spent half an hour trying to debunk the film rather than deal with the issue.
