Anyone think that the Unity 08 campaign is going to bite us Dems in the ass? |

My dad was watching the O'Reilly Factor and Sam Waterston was talking about it when I walked in.
They're pushing for a bi-partisan presidential effort, preaching the same sort of stuff Nader was in 2000. "The system is broken, etc, etc..."
They mean well, but it's going to screw us like Nader did.
*** Although, this should maybe go in GD:P. Mods?

I signed up to be a local contact person for Unity 08 just so I could figure out what they are trying to accomplish.

Their agenda is predicated on the idea that the two parties represent only the extremist elements of their bases so we need a rational voice for the middle. The Democratic candidate can easily put that fire out by asking for specific examples of extremist positions in the Democratic platform, and how Unity's "compromise" position would provide a superior alternative.
