He's not up for reelection till 2010, this isn't going to effect his reelection. If he were from somewhere else maybe there would be a chance of him quiting but it's Louisiana. The only people screaming about it didn't and aren't going to vote for him anyway. The media isn't going to focus on him for 3 years. We have to focus on keeping Jindal out of the Governor's mansion first and then see if anyone actually signs up to run against Vitter by 2010.

3. Kind of like Santorum blaming Boston being liberal for priests raping boys.
That was classic.

2. I agree, the media is already blaming Clinton for setting the precident
Hell, if the president can get a BJ in the oval office, republicans who get busted pale in comparison. Thats the argument I heard on TV yesterday.

5. Clinton's sin was the sin to end all sins..
everything from here on out is just a youthful transgression.

8. Clinton--the man who invented the penis.
Before him, world leaders never had sex with anyone other than their wives.

with Lysol. No one wants the clap.

7. a 48 hour story
unless it were a democratic senator that is...also what's up with all the "I feel sorry for John McCain" crap anyway? They act like he doesn't deserve what's happening to his presidential bid while they spend hours and hours on a dem candidate's haircut story

9. I agree, sadly, with your assessment. He thinks he can ride this out.
If I were him, though, given his wife's comment on the Bill Clinton discretions, and her comparison of herself to Lorena Bobbitt, I'd get separate bedrooms, hide the knives, and sleep on my stomach with one eye open if I were him....

19. He was a Senator from Arkansas,
another socially conservative red Southern state. He divorced his wife and married a congressional aid who had been having an affair with during his first marriage. The voters sent him packing when he sought reelection.

15. I am just happy this should stop Vitter from preaching
abstinence at us. Or at least for a while.

The Family network will have to buy another congresscritter.

17. Let's keep the story kicked, then.
I don't expect Vitter to resign unless there's more - and there might be more. I strongly suspect, for instance, that some of the prostitutes he hired aren't white. Long history of powerful rich white men in the south feeling that sex with black women is their right. Vitter sounds typical of that type.

It's just one more example of the empty hypocrisy behind the lies and greed that motivate the Republican Party.
