1. Have it come out against war. No more wars.
None of this stupid timetables, come home now.

Stop invading countries.

Then talk about social issues.

3. Yes.
Everyone knows that the politics aren't right at this moment in our country for same-sex marriage. But if the Democratic Party should stand for one thing, it's full equality for Americans, regardless of sexual orientation. And that includes marriage.

Same-sex marriage is going to happen. It will happen. Maybe not tomorrow, maybe not next year, but it will happen. And it would be nice for our party to be on the right side of history and support same-sex marriage in its platform. It's called principle. I'm tired of the Democratic Party acting like Republican Lite on this issue.

7. Hi, terrya!
You have to start somewhere. If the Democrats are afraid to even put it in their platform, that just makes progression harder. How many people even read the whole platform anyway?

a pain-free exit on their own terms, the unequivocal right of women to make their own reproductive decisions, a clear, inviolable wall of separation between church and state, an immediate withdrawl from Iraq, and a Single Payer Health Care System.

5. Only if we want to ensure a Republican win.
Like it or not , the majority of Americans oppose gay marriage and if it's part of the Democratic platform, we lose the middle. I think the courts are the proper place to fight this battle.

6. The Majority of Americans are Pro-Choice. That hasn't kept the GOP from including a plank in their
platform for the past 3 decades that would not only criminalize abortion, but quite likely criminalize the birth control pill, too. How popular do you think that would be?

8. Show me where you get that "fact"
Where is it proven that the "majority of Americans" believe such a thing? I hear that phrase all the time coming from FauxNews, bushbots and "Centrists". The "majority of Americans" believe such and such and so and so, but FauxNews and Bushbots and so called "Centrists" can never prove any such thing.

9. The two party nature of our system generally makes you take a position.
The Republicans certainly won't. Where does that leave the Democratic Party? Should both parties reject homosexuals in America?

10. Yes. Unequivocally yes.
The Republicans are in full retreat on this issue. Musgrave and Allard didn't even offer their anti-gay marriage constitutional amendment this year, and I think its because they know that people are tired of their hate.

12. I vote for OTHER: Separation of Marriage and State
1) Marriage is a "sacred" institution and therefore an Establishment of Religion.
2) Congress shall make no laws respecting an Establishment of Religion.
3) The State shall make no laws respecting Marriage.
4) The State has a compelling interest in regulating, licensing and recognizing the contractual relationship between two adult human beings above the age of consent in forming Civil Unions.

In short:

What religious organizations do shall be called "Marriage" and shall carry no legal weight at all, and neither shall the government interfere in it.

What The State does shall be called a "Civil Union", and shall be done without discrimination on the basis of Gender, and no religious organization may interfere with it.

Civil Unions shall be defined as a bonding Civil Union between two adult human beings, no more closely related than second cousins, who have pledged to care for one another, and to share all responsibilities, for the rest of their lives.

13. It should come out against discrimination.
Consenting, tax-paying, voting adults. 'Nuff said.

If defeatists say we can't win with that platform, I say it's because we haven't articulated marriage as a right yet. Where's the passion for same-sex marriage in our "representatives"?
