We used to be pretty close, but he's a republican to the core and I finally realized that if it weren't for our shared blood, I'd never give the guy the time of day. Finally he pulled some shit related to our late father's business which is too complex and painful to get into here, and that was really the last I spoke with him. We went from getting together weekly (he's three hours away in New Hampshire...it was always me and my family who had to travel to visit him, never the other way around) to now only seeing each other at funerals and weddings.
