derby's Saturday Night "New Direction" Rant |
|
Great. So now that Herr Decider's approval rating is lower than Nixon's has ever been, I find out that Congress' approval rating is even lower. OK, could someone please throw a bucket of ice on my head and wake me out of this nightmare?
Why isn't Congress trying to destroy the USA Patriot Act? Or the Military Commissions Act? Or the partial privatization on Medicare? And why has Cindy Sheehan been driven away from the Democratic Party? Are the grassroots being marginalized once again by party insiders? Why hasn't a single Democrat in the Senate stood up to the recent saber-rattling over Iran? And where the Hell is this "New Direction for America" we've been told is on the way?
Arcade Fire is playing in the background - maybe I should let them calm my mind down. But I can't escape from the events of the past few weeks. Executive privilege is descending upon the Bush administration like the Iron Curtain that once cut Europe in half. What if Harriet Miers, under orders from the White House, defies the contempt of Congress writ that's coming? Will the Secret Service be engaged in a shootout with Capitol Police in an attempt to bring Miers before the House?
The lead vocalist for Arcade Fire just smashed his guitar. I can think of a few other things that need to be smashed as well. Dammit, we're in a war for the future of America whether we like it or not. But the battleground is actually our own nation. And the neo-fascists are playing for keeps.
Help.

Great post -- !!!
Great question -- !!!
That was another of Pelosi's BETRAYALS . . . taking the "warning re Iran" out of the legislation.
That followed a meeting with Bush, as I recall.
I think that perhaps we are going to find that Pelosi is very susceptible to "national security"
arguements; disregarding how disingenuous this White House has been.
And, evidently, Pelosi has a very short memory -- !!!!
We're in the wrong hands, folks --
