Indianapolis - An Indianapolis teenager vacationing in California is believed to be the mother of a baby found in a trash can in a restaurant near Disneyland.

That baby is listed in good condition at a California hospital. The 17-year-old girl is also being treated.

Police say they have no doubt she is the mother.

Anaheim police say the girl, her boyfriend and his parents were visiting California. They were at a crowded Denny's restaurant when, about noon Monday, she got up from her table, walked to the restroom and gave birth to a baby girl.

She apparently delivered that baby by herself, then left the newborn in a trash can filled with paper towels.

1. Why? Probably the same reasons..

women have been mutilating themselves for as far back as my mind can go. There will be many that will advocate her imprisonment, death, or other form of severe punishment...to 'teach her' a lesson. Got to get out of here, I feel the hate coming on.

2. Safe Haven

California has a safe haven law in place she could have walked into any Police,fire station and gave the baby to them no questions asked and went on her way.

I don't know this girl, or her particular story, but I am very familiar with cause and effect. Young women, under the influence and control of others do not always see the choices available to them. But, by all means, string her up. Whatever guilt and shame compelled her to this action will be nothing compared to what is in store for her now.

3. I'd like to know why the girl felt she couldn't tell her parents?

Were the parents hardcore christian who didn't show the girl what a condom looked like or explain the facts of life?

she was with wondering where she was? :wtf:

I know there are some women out there lucky enough to have quick births, but one the length of a bathroom break. Holy cow.

5. Some women/girls are in total denial

If she could deliver the baby in such little time means that she probably didn't know she was in labor or that the labor was VERY short. I doubt she even realized that she was pregnant, and the baby could have come as a total shock. You have to wonder why the parents or boyfriend didn't notice she was and then wasn't pregnant, maybe because she hardly showed. Although this condition is unusual, it is not rare, many have gone through it. Hormones makes a woman forget the pain of labor and delivery, so she'll have another child, maybe this condition is hormones run amuck making her forget the entire thing.

8. there's a law in Calif that you can abandon your baby

at any hospital, fire station etc.. no questions asked. She obviously didn't know this and would have still hid it from her parents since she was traveling with them and couldn't get away.

Poor baby. Hopefully they'll both get the help they need now.
