As 11Bravo said above, as a POW he was exemplary. His arms were broken when his plane crashed into that lake in Hanoi and they were not properly cared for. Then, later in his captivity I think they were bound in a way that caused permanent nerve damage.

Overall, he has a reduced span of movement and his arms are permanently cocked that way.

Today, however, he is just lower than whale shit.
