Meanwhile, on "24" - spoiler alert |
|
After a nuclear bomb north of LA that killed 12,000, the Homeland Security badass, with the conniving Vice President, are ready with their proposal to suspend the habeas corpus. "The Constitution was written for muskets, now we are dealing with nuclear bombs" says the HSD guy.
Still, "President Wayne Palmer," after gathering the cabinet to decide, is the "decider." He is not going to go for this. Our Constitution is more important than anything else. Yes, even the threat of four more bombs in the pipeline, according to intel.
It is bad enough that they have detention centers where Muslims are incarcerated for suspicious of being terrorists, even though, once a cell phone is being viewed, all the info is from the Internet.
I wonder whether Limpback and Cheney still love "24."

1. An interesting thing about the show is that it at first looks |
|
like a fantasyland for the dittoheads. But it appears to me that in nearly every series, there have been corrupt US politicians and businessmen willing to trade alot of American lives for power, the opportunity to start wars in the middle east, etc. I think the show has been devastating for the current mis-administration.
OxyRush is probably a drama junkie like me!
BTW, next week it is a two hour show, 8EST/7CST.

2. I wonder if Vice President "Jim Jones" will stage a coup. |
|
Every time I see Powers Boothe, I think about his role playing Jim Jones.
The vice president, chief of staff and the joint chiefs all disagree with the president. They'll come up with something to get rid of the president.
As far as Limpballs, he's too stupid to realize that the show makes them look like power hungry devils who want to control the world.

3. Yes, I wondered the same thing |
|
You don't put an actor of such a caliber for just a background.
Of course, they tried something like that several years ago, with "David Palmer" so they may have to come with a different story.
And I agree about Jim Jones. His portrayal was scary, with the power of magnetism that could work on his followers.

7. Hell, the Freeps on their 24 thread are practically begging for Palmer to be wacked |
|
You've never seen a bunch of people more pissed off over the plot line of a show.

10. These freeps probably cheer whenever anyone is being tortured |
|
and... I don't visit their sites but wonder how much they of their attacks on "President Palmer" also contain undercurrent racism.

11. They didn't seem to mind the first Palmer so I'm not sure racism factors in re: this Pres. Palmer |
|
They're just genuinely pissed that the show has been making a civil liberties push lately.
I'm banking that certain players in the government/Military-Industrial complex are totally in league with Jack's father's company. That will create a total Freep boycott of the show.

12. Interesting theory. Will have to wait and see |
|
And, yes, Cheney will probably be the first to drop it.

4. Limbaugh et al don't have a clue |
|
I think they see torture and nukes and say "Cool." They don't have the critical thinking skills to determine if the 24 plot supports their rhetoric.

6. is there a parallel between Jack's dad and Bush 41? |
|
I can't help but think of George Herbert Walker Bush when I see this evil old man dressed up like a blueblood. He killed his own bad son to protect himself!
