No cost way to raise money for VFW and Programs. GoodSearch.com
I received this email from the VFW concerning GoodSearch.com. When anyone uses this search engine Yahoo! makes a donation to the VFW. Weather one supports Bush's Wars or not, there's no denying the troops are getting screwed over by this administration by endless tours, reduced medical care and so on. The VFW is one way of putting pressure on Washington to get their act together (I know Bush doesn't listen but others might).

The instructions for setting up the donor portion of the website are below. Also, there are three choices for "VFW". The main organizaion, Ladies auxillary and the Children's Home.

If anyone's interested in doing this, I know they can use the support.
Thanks.....

===== Instructions ======
Now you can raise money for the Veterans of Foreign Wars, just by searching the Internet at GoodSearch.com.

You use GoodSearch.com like any other search engine - the site is powered by Yahoo! - but each time you do, money is generated for VFW. Here’s how it works:

1. Go to http://www.goodsearch.com/
2. Type VFW into the “I support” box and click on “verify”
3. Select Veterans of Foreign Wars - VFW (Kansas City, MO)
4. Search the Internet just like you would with any search engine
5. Since GoodSearch shares its advertising revenue with charities and schools, every time you search the web at GoodSearch, you’ll be earning money for VFW.

GoodSearch also has a toolbar you can download from the homepage so that you can search right from the top of your browser.

You can keep track of the VFW’s estimated earnings by clicking on “amount raised” once you designate the Veterans of Foreign Wars - VFW (Kansas City, MO) as your organization of choice.

1. The VFW is going to have to start supporting the veterans
before I ever give a dime to them again.

2. As long as
Edited on Mon Jul-23-07 12:28 PM by BOSSHOG
the VFW continue to give bush and cheney standing ovations they can get their financial support from someone besides me. DAV, AMVETS and others will continue to get my limited fiduciary two cents worth. I put American Legion in the same boat as VFW. I sincerely believe they don't give one flying dog fuck about our kids in Iraq.

However, I sincerely appreciate your efforts to support our kids who are in harms way because of a fucking lunatic.

4. There's three VFW's
within a 40 mile radius and they are just dying to get younger blood in their ranks; to the point of bad mouthing each other. I'm 53 but to them I'm just a pup. I'm detecting a very slight attempt to distance themselves from bush but it ain't working with me. If I can give them a buck, I can also give that buck to the DAV (or the SPCA cause I know there will be no doubt about the loyalty and appreciation there.)

5. Same story here...
the local VFW has been practically stalking my husband to get him to join (Gulf War Vet). This one guy keeps telling my husband "Well, if you young fellas don't join up the organization is just going to die!" to which my husband responds "Maybe it needs to!"

7. From reading these replies it's clear that the experience of others...
with the VFW has been different than mine. HOWEVER, "GoodSearch.com" will accept any domestic charity or school you want to nominate for support. The charitie/school can be added from the home page. I'm not sure what the verification process is but it's worth a try.

8. Why the fuck would I want to support the VFW?
Or am I confusing the VFW with some other crazy, wingnut organization?

9. Stopped sending them money a long time ago.
The Legion had a Boosh-lover president who had fabricated his war record and let him stay. The VFW has Boosh lovers at the top too. Until their leadership and agenda change, they get nada from me.
