We'll be real busy for a while, cleaning out the Augean Stables.

sheesh, what is it with the strawmen around here? Not enough to build them up and burn republican ones gotta do dem ones too?

We were FURIOUS that they impeached Clinton in part because the charges were ridiculous but also because we knew, but more importantly THEY knew, they could not convict.

So, we should do it too?

6. Most Americans don't realize how heinous Bush's felonies are. MSM is not reporting on
it. With Impeachment hearings they are going to have to report, and if any Congressman or Senator wants to keep their job come the following election, they are going to have to desert the stinking sinking ship.

To compare Shrub's felonies to a blow job is obscene to me and I think the people won't even connect the two once they know the Truth.

10. let me guess, you didn't live through Nixon or Reagan?
Americans DON'T CARE what the so called felonies are.

Nixon was at least as guilty as Bush (Reagan too) but he was so weak he couldn't even stand up to impeachment so he resigned.

Knowing "the truth" as you say and proving it are two different things. My best bet is you can't pin one damn thing on Bush. Without the tapes on Nixon and the blue dress on Monica neither of those things would have happened either.

My job is evaluating evidence. I have not seen one shred of evidence which would withstand scrutiny in court. I know that impeachment is a political act and not a legal/criminal one but the evidence should have SOME standards. Not just that we think he is a weak sister up to no good.

I come to the internet to get informed not bitch about how Bush is evil (we know that) and how he should be impeached (we know that). But we also know it won't happen without 67 Senators. So give it the f up already. Move on. Read a book. Go to a movie. Get some exercise. Have a beer with some family or friends (in real life) and talk about the meaning of life.

It is more than impeachment. It is more than Bush. It is a flipping constant struggle. We have survived worse (McCarthy?) and we'll survive this. Don't burn out because Congress can't do what you want.

13. I did live through both Nixon and Reagan, and in fact was an adult when Nixon resigned
and Bush is more heinous than the two of them put together.

Unfortunately I don't have the ability to just relax and let things happen. I have kids whose future I worry about and I'm sorry but I believe as many here at DU believe that if we allow these criminals to go free. our country will be lost forever.

So please, go and enjoy yourself and have a lovely life.

41. yes, I am
I am very well informed.

But still, I just don't see the evidence or the votes. Without at least ONE of those things, it is a waste of time.

I'm all for investigations and it we turn up some proof...I'm on board.

Nixon resigned because of who he was (more patriotic and thin skinned) and the tapes. Clinton was impeached because of the dress. It was an outrage to impeach Clinton. Without the votes or the evidence it would be an outrage to impeach Bush.

25. Mind if I call you on your bullshit?
What has been ADMITTED TO is enough to file impeachment. Violating the constitution; violating international laws; eliminating Habeas. And that is just a start - imagine the evidence that will come out in hearings - outing a CIA officer for political purposes (there is a law against that); firing of federal attorneys for political purposes (if not strictly illegal, certainly unethical); vote rigging.

BTW, Nixon was not weak. He was reelected to office by the largest landslide in US history. He didn't resign because he was weak. He resigned because he was guilty. By resigning, he could control the process, which he did very well, guaranteeing the rise of his proteges in later administrations.

And Bush/Cheney are guilty of more than Nixon ever dreamed of.

For someone who comes to the internet to get informed, you are remarkably uninformed about Bushco's crimes. As the evidence comes out in the hearings we will get those 67 votes - assuming there are no preemptive resignations this time. And even if we don't, the record will be there, and the recalcitrant senators will have to stand by them in the next election. Either way, they lose.

46. Impeachment will start as a groundswell from WE THE PEOPLE
When our reps, both sides, sense that their very jobs are on the line, they will be on board. This was quite exquisitely demonstrated with bush's "Immigration Reform" lately. Do you suppose the repugs wanted to continue in lock step with the prez at risk of losing their base? Nope. They went with their base in order to hang on to their jobs.

bushco's stats are in the shitter, more and more of WE THE PEOPLE are coming on board with the impeachment train. Folks here are all but giddy in support of impeachment. WE THE PEOPLE are forming our own surge...one which our reps will soon be hard pressed to ignore. May I suggest instead of pissing on our parade, instead of slowing Democracy down, you might follow your own advice: Move on, read a book, go to a movie, get some exercise, have a beer with some family and friends and discuss the meaning of life. I suppose the choice is yours afterall, The impeachment train is starting to leave the station, climb aboard, stand aside or stand on the tracks telling us how silly we are.
just sayin

I didn't say I wasn't willing to try. I'm just being somewhat realistic about how much can be accomplished in a limited time, i.e., before 2009. If we can carry on impeachment proceedings after they're out of office (assuming they leave voluntarily) or, better yet, indictments, convictions, and lengthy prison terms, I'm all for it.

I learned how to walk when I was nine months old.

Would you first start bailing out water from New Orleans without first plugging up the broken dam? No. You'd first plug up the dam, which is what's causing all those problems. THEN you'd start bailing out the water. This administration has pierced a hole in the very fiber of our country.

Then I want President Pelosi to unseal and make public EVERYTHING he's holding back with executive privilege and executive orders.

Then I want Pelosi's Justice Department to try him and them for a laundry-list of crimes.

Then I want him and them in that Colorado Supermax prison for a few consecutive life terms.

After they've served that time, then the Hague can have them.

Crimes like 9/11 --

Crimes like illegal wiretapping -- and who knows what else? New Cointelpro?

Crimes like politicizing the DOJ to cover their own crimes --

47. Whatever Gonzales did, he did it because Cheney/Bush told him to do it -- !!!
But then the Democrats have been doing this dance of evasion with George W. Bush on a far larger scale for four years. After all, Gonzales’ impeachable offenses are his superiors’. Gonzales took the orders; Bush-Cheney gave the orders. The litany of Bush-Cheney impeachable abuses extends far beyond those associated with Gonzales, foremost among them of course Bush plunging the nation into a bloody, costly war-quagmire on a platform of fabrications, deceptions and cover-ups again and again, year after year. And Gonzales took the orders; Bush-Cheney gave the orders-a more serious basis for a Congressional demand for their resignation or the commencing of impeachment proceedings in the House of Representatives.

This is from a Nader article at Common Dreams --

I'll never understand why they were so eager to impeach President Clinton for a personal/sleezy affair; but are not willing to impeach this treasonous piece of garbage we now call president. Feingold for one was all for impeaching Bill Clinton, but he's unwilling to impeach Bush the traitor.

Don't tell me it's because they haven't lied under oath; the only reason they hasn't lied is because
they refused to be under oath.
