Hey Dickwad Cheney: Gerald Ford never started no pre-emptive war
You know, I don't have too much negativity to say about Gerald Ford. Yes he was a republican and yes he was dumb enough to pardon Nixon. But what I do recall was that in the 3 years that Gerald Ford was in the White House he never started a pre-emptive war that killed thousands of our children while flushing billions of our tax dollars down the drain. Plus Ford appointed John Paul Stevens to the Supreme Court - definately not a right wing idiot like Alito or Roberts

President George W. Bush will be remembered fondly on his deathbed.

Vice President Dick Cheney appeared to deliver that message on CNN's Larry King Live Tuesday night. When asked if he should take the President's poor poll numbers more seriously, Cheney pointed to the administration of Gerald Ford, in which he also served. Ford, who replaced Richard Nixon after his resignation from the Watergate scandal, was remembered well after his death.

"ust last year, when he passed away and we had memorial services and so forth for him, he was held in very high regard; across the country his praises were sung for some of the really tough decisions he made that were very unpopular at the time," Cheney insisted.

5. Actually, Poppy was first in Nixon's administration...
As RNC Chairman. Remember Nixon's remark that "I love Barbara Bush--she knows how to hate!"? And we have Nixon, and his dirty tricksters, to thank for Karl Rove, who was Chairman of the College Repubs at the time. Rover learned his lessons well from Donald Segretti et al.

And Poppy Bush was first "cued in" to Clinton as far back as the '74 elections, when Clinton ran, unsuccessfully, for Congress. Poppy was getting "oppo" research on him, even back then, just in case they needed it later. Little did Poppy know...:eyes:

We DO have Jerry to thank for Cheney and Rummy, and that was a pretty big mistake on his part. But in one of his last interviews, Ford said Dick Cheney in the present day was "...someone I don't recognize". Rummy, on the other hand, was once called "...the most ruthless man I ever met" by none other than Henry Kissinger. And if anyone should know ruthless...

3. The country sings high praises after every president passes
away. Remember when Nixon died and how the media noted what a wonderful guy he was. Ford never had to make any tough decisions. He was not in office long enough.

4. about the only president who did not do so in the last 40 years... he maybe needed another term.
did support genocide in East Timor (thru military aid to Indonesia) though, so he acted like an american president in that respect.

8. Cheney is a spin asshole. This Bush will be remembered by Democrats for the thousands he sent to
their deaths. I hope Cindy Sheehan and Adam Kokesh live to see his funeral and comment on the legacy of his presidency - along with the thousands of veteran homeless and amputees. They need to write so that this volume of recorded history and opinion can be used to correct any FReepers biography of George W. The Great defender of the Christian West.

10. "really tough decisions"
Cheney, you mean like issuing WIN buttons and pardoning Nixon? Tough, huh.

(WIN buttons = "Whip Inflation Now"; I've always thought that had a "let them eat cake" quality to it.)
