Good thing Bush sent us all back that $300 back in 2000 |
|
or whenever it was.
He and the Repukes couldn't think of anything to do with that surplus left over from the Clinton Administration.
"It's the infrastructure, stupid!" <-- Dems should make it clear.
*heavy sigh*

4. Plus they made it hard to deposit the checks to your bank if they |

were made out to a couple. They wanted you BOTH to sign at the bank. Easy to cash'em at Home Depot and WalMart though. I got that shit at the bank, so I went out to my car and stuck the damn thing in the tube at the drive-thru. They said I'd get it back if I did that...I never did, spent the money on a trip to New Orleans when it was still intact.

5. It was an advance refund on your taxes, you didn't get anything extra |
|
They adjusted the tax tables for that $300. So if you get a refund on your taxes, it was reduced by $300 that year, and if you had to pay, you paid that $300 right back. That was a big stunt pulled on the American people.

7. no, they DIDN'T adjust the tables |
|
but we still got the extra. Taxable income of $6,000 in 2001 gave you a tax bill of $904. Minus the $300 they already sent you is a net of $604. In 2002, taxable income of $6,000 gave you a tax bill of $604. People got confused by that (and some people got on the radio and wrote articles saying that there was not really a refund, spreading more confusion), because their tax bill did not go down in 2001. It did though, but they just got the refund in July of 2001 instead of March of 2002.
