ISN"T THIS A CRIME??? - A Judge Ruled This ILLEGAL & Bush Went Ahead & Did It Anyway!!!
Edited on Fri Aug-03-07 04:45 PM by kpete

ENOUGH ALREADY!!!

Someone CALL BULL and defend our Constitution.
Bush is committing crimes and the dems are working to give him more power?

I do not understand why they are trying to fix FISA - Who Are They Protecting? Certainly Not Us!

Why is the President allowed to break the law?

So,if the judge ruled this illegal, and Bush went ahead and did it anyway,
and then tried to cover it up -
wouldn’t that be a CRIME???

A federal intelligence court judge earlier this year secretly declared a key element of the Bush administration's wiretapping efforts illegal, according to a lawmaker and government sources, providing a previously unstated rationale for fevered efforts by congressional lawmakers this week to expand the president's spying powers.

Bush Insists Gonzales, Not FISA Court, Review Surveillance Program
By Big Tent Democrat, Section Legislation
Posted on Fri Aug 03, 2007

President Bush insists that it should be Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, not the FISA court, that should review the Administration's surveillance program.

And he will not sign a bill unless he gets his way. Bush makes the bizarre claim that having Gonzo, not the courts, review the program is necessary to keep us safe. Who in the heck believes that?

11. Of course. The Dems are terrified that they might have to impeach
So, instead, they're making everything * did legal retroactively.

5. Bush is trying to blackmail Congress into making what he did legal-if-done-now...
Edited on Fri Aug-03-07 04:14 PM by Junkdrawer
And, if it would now be legal, it becomes politically impossible to charge him or anyone who worked for him with the crime.

The Blackmail? "If you don't pass it, I'll blame you for the next terror attack."

And, with the Saudi/Pakistani/rogue CIA infiltration of al Qaeda, that's not an idle threat and Congress knows it.

In our new system with bully party and bullee party, you just have a session of congress and pass legislation making it retroactively legal and dismiss any constitutional problems.

19. Now there can be no doubt: IMPEACHMENT IS NOW ABSOLUTELY MANDATORY UNDER THE
CONSTITUTION. Constitutional Law Professor Bruce Fein has been saying this over, and over, and over, on Bill Moyers' PBS TV show, on Thom Hartmann's show, and in his oped in the San Francisco Chronicle. It is NOT an option under these circumstances. This is a felony conviction.

But give up the impeachment option and you give up all your power. Remove the impeachment option and one might as well remove the entire separation of powers/divided government foundation upon which the United States Constitution was developed.

I think NANCY PELOSI should be impeached right now. She has betrayed and failed every Democrat and every American in this great land. She is required to act under the Constitution. She took an oath, too. But Pelosi will NOT act, and Bush will be in power as long as Nanci Pelosi is in power. Right now, I think SHE is the traitor of the moment.

This whole situation is appalling. I wish I could take more time away from work to post further.

She doesn't get to decide IF a president should be impeached - when impeachable offenses occur, she is required to ACT, whether she likes it or not! :grr:

she took an oath to protect and defend the Constitution. She should have held a fucking press conference TODAY about THIS VERY RULING. But no, no, no, can't do that, might upset big donors? WHOSE SIDE IS SHE ON, ANYHOW?

28. It's not illegal....
So long as you fully intend to force a law down congresses throats that retroactively makes your actions legal. And even then, you have signing statements and so forth. Should all that fail, if the President does it, that makes it legal. What? You thought we lived in a democracy? Ahh, I remember democracy.

37. Wanted; Democrats with Nuts
We are looking for Democrats with fully functional nuts, who are impervious to blackmail, where are you? Hellooooo!
Perhaps they are hiding their nuts at this time? That's the ticket...
I am tempted to wonder if they have an actual plan: go after Gonzales, then work their way up to the master criminals, and that the prosecuters do not wish to reveal their ingenious strategy at this time. I reserve one brain cell to hope that this is true.

39. Kind of explains why Pelosi was so anxious to take impeachment "off the table", eh?
I mean, if they'd go so far as to rewrite the laws that Bush breaks, so as not to have anything to impeach him with... well, it suggests all their excuses about "not having the votes" and "not having the time" are pretty thin. They're just determined to enable his agenda.

41. What if Congress knew and didn't do anything...
would they also have committed an illegal act according to the oath of office
they took and the mandated oversight mission of Congress?

Perhaps this is why Congress was so anxious to give Bush what he wanted..to avoid
legal challenges on their own actionable behavior.

This Congress is dirty as can be. Bought, compromised, complicit in crimes of
wiretapping, etc.

No wonder Pelosi and Reid are looking the other way (and not attending Yearly Kos
where they'd certainly be asked about impeachment and why they caved again to Bush).
