Getting along with those who may disagree with you is hard. But getting along has always been the challenge for those of us who've resolved to come together and try and solve these problems we face, together. It can be sobering to have your ideas or opinions greeted by so many criticisms, but that criticism is a reflection of the challenges we face in advancing our ideas and initiatives. That resistance to our individual ambitions will always exist in some form. That resistance is the challenge we should want to engage in our politics; not sitting somewhere, satisfied with the mere dawning of our own realizations.

DU is one of the best internet sites to engage in that 'coming together' as we face our challenges and work to advance our ideas and initiatives. Too often we focus on the resistance to our efforts here. But, that resistance is the nexus, the point where our ideas are tested, along with our own resolve. We should celebrate that resistance as we work to confront it with our own prescriptions and expectations. It's not easy, but those confrontations are where our ideas meet potential obstacles (or gateways) to their success. That's the point where we are truly alive.
