DU yourself a favor: drop the phrase "attention whore" from your lexicon. |
|
It's a petty, vicious, meaningless little cheap shot that can be plausibly applied to anyone who's ever been guilty of a single noteworthy accomplishment. Or to me, for posting this post. Or to you, for responding to it. Pretty handy, huh?
But - trust me on this - people never fail to make themselves look bad when they employ this nasty little substitute for reasoned discourse.
That is all.

are there any other words, phrases or epithets you'd like to include in your Big Black Book of Banned Words, Mein Fuhrer?

I'm sick of hearing it, too. Not because I find it offensive...just because it's one of those overused DU things.

6. Well, I think these terms have a use, |
|
however they do get old. How about a use limit. A particular word or phrase may be used 1001 times and then it get bleeped.
If you want to use a term, you must register it with the Admins. Then when use number 1001 turns over on the counter, bingo it gets bleeped. And just for good measure, the 1001st user gets TSed. Keeps you reaching for new vocabulary and keeps new blood on DU.

7. Wouldn't an "attention whore" be someone who gives you attention when you pay them? |
|

So it never made sense anyway. I agree we should drop it from the ad-hominem arsenal.

I get hives in the presence of colorful terms.
(That was sarcasm and snark, in case it wasn't obvious.)
