My email to big corp. about their 'Made in China' shit!
If it's not bad food or toys, then it's bad meds. I had a new Farberware product for 7 months, they replaced it when it went bad and now, 10 months after I get the replacement, it's doing the same thing as the original. I emailed them this:

RE: FSHM100 10 Speed Mixer w/Turbo

To Whom It May Concern:

I am writing to inform Farberware/Salton that I will not be purchasing any more of your products until I have absolute knowledge that these products are once again, made in the United States of America!

Several years ago I had purchased the above mentioned product, the Farberware 10 speed hand mixer with turbo action. You had sent me a replacement on 9/21/06 (order # 2707918-01) after calling your customer service department in reference to problems with the mixer. Those problems were: a rattling noise inside the mixer and a loud squealing noise when the mixer was in use. I had used the replacement mixer since receiving it and was very happy that my problem had been taken care of expeditiously. This morning I used the replacement mixer and noticed the rattling noise again, like a piece inside had broken off inside the mixer. I know Farberware previously made all their products in the U.S. but on a whim, I looked at the box and discovered that is no longer the case.

I take pride in my country and try to purchase items only made here, even though some parts are made elsewhere. Quality is premium here in the U.S. and needless to say, China makes junk if I may be so blunt. I do not want another replacement for this mixer, as I will be in search of a brand that makes their products here in this country. I may pay a little more for it, but I know that I will be keeping a United States American working and supporting their family.

Thank you for your time and attention to this matter. It may be to Farberware/Saltons advantage that this letter and other like it, be passed on to the marketing department for review of their quality control practices.

Sincerely,

I know they don't give a shit about how I feel, or whether I will buy another one of their products. I just feel self-satified that I told them exactly how I feel and now, I have begun looking very closely at anything I buy, even food!! If I can't find an item that isn't made in China then I guess I don't need it that badly!

1. Good job!
I'm sick and tired of everything I buy being made with cheap labor overseas.

Anybody old enough to remember when Walmart used to proudly claim that their products were made in the USA? That used to be one of their big selling points. My guess is that Sam Walton would roll over in his grave to see what they're doing now.

4. JoJo - I liked it as well.
And I'm kicking and recc'ing it too.
If more of us did this, maybe we could make an impact.
Now, if I was you, I would go on line and I would find out who the CEO was of this company.
Then I would also send the letter to that person.

Always go to the top, if you can.

:hi:

5. Good letter!
I have to laugh that it's Faberware. I have three Faberware skillets that my mother used when I was a kid -- so, circa mid-60s, early 70s. They still work great! Bet mine were made in the USA!

Even if they don't give a shit, it's good you wrote.

and I bought it in the 1970s!

Glad to know I am not alone. When I need new replacement cookware, I buy on eBay - old Revereware - Made in the USA, old Corningware - Made in the USA. Old anything - Made in the USA!

8. I don't buy anything made in china.
I don't buy very much stuff, but what I do buy I make sure that it's made someplace else. I hate communism, particularly this insidious form, where they pay the workers practically nothing to flood the world with crappy junk.

I still have my working Farberware hand mixer I got for my wedding in 1967.
Guess things have changed since then.

10. Good letter. You have to call them on it whenever you can.
Before I shell out money for poisonous, cheap, imported crap I make an effort to find a good used one of whatever I need (or "new old" stock) that was made in the U.S.A. That goes for clothing, dinnerware, furniture, anything. It's amazing how little I spend on nonessentials because I'd rather not buy anything than buy imported stuff that has cost Americans their jobs.

12. U.S. companies make junk also...and they poison us each and every day.
You don't hear them uttering a word about that, do you? They pollute our air and water and fill our food with msg and high fructose corn syrup and anything else that will destroy our health. I'm sick of hearing about China. Let's talk about who's really doing us in.

17. Yes We Do, But We Are SICK of US Jobs Lost & Corps. Who Sell Hi-Priced JUNK
I am sick of hearing how much money is saved by having slaves manufacture junk, then ship it halfway across the world , which god knows can't be cheap and trashes the environment as well. We can't pay people here a decent wage anymore - because we have to continue paying useless CEOs obscene salaries and more tax breaks for the rich, who in turn hire illegals at disgustingly low wages all for greed. Give me a freaking break........

13. My sister has a singer sewing machine
Manufactured in the 1930's in America that still works perfectly. The blooming things are so well made that I spent far more buying a reconditioned one on EBay than a new one would have set me back. It's also a sweet machine that I not only enjoy using, but can also plan on leaving to my grandchildren (which is how my sister got hers: we're not that old).

Americans used to be good at making reliable products at a fair - if not overly cheap - price. I'd be willing to spend a bit more for things that I can count on using for years. Most of the crap manufactured in China breaks after a few months out of the box - if it lasts even that long, and doesn't poison you first.

I read labels far more carefully these days. As for cook ware, I have two words: thrift shops. You can still find name brands at a fraction of the cost.
