Open letter to Randi Rhodes. You are fortunate to be so smart and a hard worker. |
|
But why must you be a bitch?
You will not make your star shine brighter by trying to diminish others.
Not that you would care, but gee wiz, just listen to yourself some time, is it necessary to condescend with such superiority?
Take a vacation already.

1. She REALLY needs a vacation. |
|
I usually enjoy her show but she is soooo cranky today. She's getting on everyone's case and calling them stupid. It's too much.

5. I have been kinda shocked by how crappy she treats her callers. |
|
I mean, those are your listeners. Hell, those are your listeners who are so dedicated to your show that they actually take the time to call in and wait on hold forever to get a chance to talk to you. And that's how you treat them?
I haven't listened to her for a while for this exact reason.

8. I would never call in to her show because of that. |
|
Thom Hartman might cut callers off and talk over them but other than that rudeness he's at least not mean to his callers.
Randi needs better screeners so she doesn't get callers that set her off... if that's possible.

6. She has given in to her superiority and it is over shadowing her great mind. And what i |
|
have really noticed, is that she seldom to never ever gives a caller credit for a good point, although she did today to ONE guy.
But boy oh boy, her mouth is vicious and for no good reason.

you find out the real character of people when they are given power---Randi, dear, you are fabulous, but you need to not let it go to your head.

21. I didn't hear the whole show, but after she bit the head off about the 3rd caller |
|
who weren't being hostile, just clumsy, I thought the same thing about the vacation.
I was really amazed at the way she treated the guy from Austin about censorship on the internet. She totally jumped to the conclusion that this was the first time he had thought about bushco taking away our rights because it might affect the Austin music industry, and him personally.
Yeah, a cruise for a week should do some good.

Every successful radio personality needs to have something to set themselves apart of the thousands of other "smart and hard working" radio personalities.

9. On another day, I might agree with you....but her "schtick" has gone from cutting |
|
edge to vicious.......and against people who don't have the verbal skills or radio experience she does....and basically the majority of callers are Dems.
Go figure....eat your own.

|
But I can't deny her success: She apparently appeals to a lot of people.

13. I have been a Randi fan since '03, and I am drawn to cutting edge stuff, so |
|
she has been a great joy to listen to......but she has changed, and over the past 6 months or so I am flabergasted at what she is capable of saying to good and harmless callers!
That's my only point. DU is a place to be heard, and sometimes just to vent. Today I am venting, because, damnit, there is too much vicious stuff coming from the other side....and we don't need to have one of our own try to out do the otherside. That's all.
Thanks for listening, and good night. xo

19. Do you think she's changed since Franken left...? |
|
You see, when AAR started up, Al was definitely the "star attraction," along with Janeane Garofalo, while Randi was the top of the "next tier" -- long-time liberal talk-show hosts with a track record of success, but not a big-name comedian, author, or actor.
With first Garofalo and now Frankin gone, I think she's convinced that she is now the "top star" of AAR, far above any of the other hosts, and that she's got a royalty complex.
Maybe she's right about her status at AAR -- and maybe that's the reason I find most of the really good programming on the local Seattle affiliate comes from syndicators other than Air America. Honestly, except for Thom Hartman and possibly Jon Elliot, I think AAR could go away entirely, and AM1090 Seattle would be able to exist just fine as a progressive talk station without them.

she isn't "receiving", like Judge Judy says, half the time when she takes calls. When she takes call from repukes it's one thing, but from liberals she needs to realize some people are on her side.

12. Sounds like it's typical talk radio |
|
Host knows everything, we know nothing, and we're fools for even trying to pretend that we do -- or to even try to get a word in.
I'm convinced that if all the talk show hosts ruled the world we would have no problems, for they have all the answers. They should perhaps step up and and walk the walk. Or shut up, and try reasoned and mature dialogue with their audiences for a change.

I agree with her 95% of the time. I just can't listen.
I think she needs a better 'team' around her.
It's radio, ferchrsissakes. You're supposed to WANT to listen. She makes it an ordeal.

...Joe Blow from Mississippi. I don't like her abrasive way of treating callers either, but more than that I just don't like callers on radio shows.
She's one of the few people telling the truth in the media and she does it with an incredible level of articulation. I don't want to waste my listening time listening to some random asshat from anywhere USA.
I wish she would take not calls. She should have guests, and discuss topics. I'd be much happier if I never had to hear another stupid ass caller again.

Like Rachael Maddow's format. Give us the news and inside info and interviews with relevant people. I doubt she knows it but her interaction with callers is her weakest point.
