We have good health insurance, but the rules can be insane. |
|
I took two daughters in to the doctor's office today so one could get her third HPV shot and the other could get an HPV shot and a check-up for some minor issues. Guess what? The insurance company will not cover an office visit combined with this immunization. My duaghter had to choose between completing her series of HPV shots or seeing the doctor. A routine screening or baseline EKG can not be combined with an office visit, either.

Seems backwards.
What a mess we all suffer with and there's little hope that it'll be fixed.

2. I think it's OK to get some immunizations with an office visit and |
|
not others. That makes the rules even more baroque. DPT is OK but not HPV.

3. When my youngest was 17 we thought his arm was broken. |

The insurance paid for the x-rays but not for the doctor to read them. This crap has been going on for a long time. (The youngest is now 35)

4. The rules are set to make the delivery of health care inefficient and costly and |
|
to preserve profit margins for the insurance industry. Efficient and thoughtful health care delivery should be designed to keep people from getting sick.

5. If we ever get a democratic administration |
|
it is going to feel like we can all breath again, when we sweep these bigots out of office. Remember, each visit cost money. And if you make two visits they get paid more. And then the health insurance companies can raise premiums to cover YOUR EXCESSIVE cost. Correct.

Don't count on a democrat to fix this mess unless Kuchinich or maybe Edwards get elected with a veto proof majority in both houses. Even then, there's no guarantee.
There are billions of dollars at stake here. Democrats can be bought just as easily as Republicans.

7. Given the size of the insurance industry, I don't see an overnight change. |

It's not a simple matter of profits. A lot of people get paid to review claims and enforce these nutty rules. We'll have to find productive jobs for these people as the system evolves.
