If you put someone on ignore does that mean you can't see the post...
I hope I'm not on anybody's ignore list but there are a couple of people who I think I made their ignore list ...
Oh well...

3. Nope. It just shows the word "ignored" in place of their name and post headline. nm |

You know what frosts me...
When you go to see a reply to your post and it was deleted by the mod...
If someone disrespects me I want to know who it is and if the disrespect was unwarranted I will respond in kind...

8. Here are the settings (tee hee) |
|
For example, (don't take this personally, sweetie) Select Ignore Options for dicksteele
Block Private Messages Selecting this option will prevent dicksteele from sending private messages to you. If dicksteele tries to send you a private message, it will appear that your inbox is closed to all private messages. They will see the following error: "That member does not wish to receive private messages."
Ignore Threads Selecting this option will prevent you from seeing any threads started by dicksteele. You will still be able to see this member's replies to other threads. They will not know that you are ignoring their threads.
Ignore Replies Selecting this option will prevent you from seeing all replies made by dicksteele anywhere on the message board. It does not hide their threads, but if you wish to ignore all of their posts, you can use this option in combination with the "Ignore Threads" option (above). The member will not know that you are ignoring their posts.

you're not doing your job.
Most of my iggy list is among the dearly departed, may they rest in peace.
From the responses to the "ignored" threads that are left, the two still on it need to be there.

and then let the nastier critics expose themselves without comment. I try to recognize that good people can be wrong, even me, and that corrections can be issued constructively and received without getting defensive.
In other words, folks have to work pretty hard to get on my ignore list.

I think one person is ignoring me, but he goes around threatening to ignore everyone so who knows.
It shows up as ignored person. I think. It was a while ago.

You have the choice of just blocking their posts in which case you will see "Ingored" instead of their name and post.
You have the choice of just blocking their threads in which case you won't see the thread at all.
You have the choice of just blocking their PMs.
Or you can block all three or any combination.
On high traffic days, "Ignore" does not work.

16. That Depends on Your Purpose for Being Here |
|
Some people truly are not here to debate. They are here only to share ideas with like-minded people. That is fine and valid. Some are here to debate and love being in the ring. It really depends on your reason. I know someone who has over 100 people on their ignore. It makes coming here much more pleasant for them. Otherwise they would simply leave.
I don't think I have anyone on Ignore right now. When I use it it's always temporary and usually so I can calm down. I have never left anyone on for more than an hour or so. It is my own behavioral control.
Some people feel that there are some real big jerks here and that since they don't hang with jerks in Real Life, why would they come here to hang with jerks. It is not about the arguing for them. It is about being with their fellows in an atmosphere of progressive thought AND support.

But yeah, there are some "major league assholes" at this site... Maybe somebody thinks I am... I just would rather slug it out with someone than put them on my ignore list...
As far as arguments I appreciate argumets different than mine as long as they are not sexist, racist, homophobic, etcetera...

I am only talking about the major assholes. I agree about arguing constructively. I am a lesbian, far left and a feminist. I don't believe in spanking. I've been homeless and I have a major mental illness. I am totally opposed to the death penalty...and I think all white people, which I am, should continually struggle against all their own racist assumptions and own the un-level playing field, etc. So I tend to be allied with those most like me...far left... and yet...
I support the legalization of prostitution and I support gun ownership so sometimes I am clearly opposite those I usually am in league with. However, the more progressive, I have noticed, actually know how to debate without being abusive or derisive or condescending or arrogant or...so I am still close friends and allies with my sisters and brothers even when we don't agree.
The major assholes tend to be extremely scathing even from the beginning. They thread stalk and abuse and rarely....RARELY...actually discuss or debate. I CAN be pushed to anger and then I will devolve into the bad kind of arguing but that tends to be when I put someone on Ignore. As I said, I use it as a behavioral control for myself.
You are GREAT on the spanking thread, just btw.
