Vandalism at Kucinich HQ after gay marriage support comment

CLEVELAND -- Someone pitched a beer bottle through Dennis Kucinich's Presidential campaign headquarters early Friday morning.
The building is on Lorain near W. 117th Street.

The incident happened shortly after Kucinich's forthright statements supporting gay marriage during a Thursday night televised debate on issues relevant to the gay community.

There was no note or phoned threat. Campaign staffers discovered the shattered glass as they arrived for work Friday morning.

They speculated there might be a connection between the vandalism and the Congressman's pro-gay marriage comments.

The property's landowner says he heard Kucinich's statements on television and told his wife, "There goes a window."

Police are investigating but have no leads or suspects.

17. It certainly is disgusting, but no one died.
And from what the article said the focus was Kucinich HQ. Quite a bit different than the 7,000 Jewish-owned shops that were vandalized during Kristallnacht, not to mention the 1,500 synagogues that were damaged or destroyed and the 30,000 Jewish males that were sent away to camps.

6. Not an unreasonable hypothesis, but is there actual evidence
linking the vandalism to Kucinich's debate comments?

7. sort of what I was thinking
Couldn't you attribute the vandalism to any of his other debate comments? In fact, I'm surprised that someone dumb enough to throw a beer bottle through his window would even be watching the debate in the first place.

12. vaguely related rant
if you take this as an example representing a much wider range of right wing tactics - they loose on this one. the majority of folk nowadays have the brain capacity to evaluate something before they tear it down. they loose because they can't get away with condoning this kind of behaviour and the left can use it as an example of their enemies brutish primitivism instead of submitting in fear to it. the shift in public concioussness and open mindedness to the left - which i think comes from a culture of diary for entertainment and self confession and openness means that this kind of behaviour; be it hate speech trash talk, vandalism of the military or constitution or structure of democracy is not going to be dismissed as the might of the guys in charge but just brutality. the right is always like the crazy dribbling grandad still ordering invisible troops around the retirement home cafeteria with his plastic spoon. the harshness, destructiveness and directness of their actions will eventually loose grip on the reality of their targets. the mainstream was left alone for a while with strange misunderstood stupid stereotypes of their PR spouting fathers doing the thinking for a while. left to their own devices they've re-emerged from their myspaces looking at each others secrets up close and realising everyone else is as bad and screwed up as they are and they judge each other on more equal humanistic terms. they don't censor bart's penis in the simpsons movie. now's the time for the left to body slam the fuckers down from their shaky shameful pedestals and hit the mainstream with neo con turd stench of corruption. they will no longer shut their ears from the bad guys in charge who lost all relationship of reality with them. us DU'ers hid away in laptop hum rooms dark rooms with the guts to face the reality of this horrible forces writhing away growing branches of control and about to crush us. i remember posts before the mid terms of leaving the country and people's remote cabins to flee to. our anti facist spirit got us through and now we have the facts and the relevant truth to tell. the pendulum will swing back if WE make it. the real question is whose happy with what will turn into a time of 90's cynicism at the smiling non threatening but mediocre state of affairs that's too adequate to quit or who among us is gonna rise up and exercise more power than writing articles to each other.

13. I'm wondering that too because... wouldn't that mean the vandals were watching the debate
on the LOGO channel? Or is it an anti-gay gay Republican who is responsible for the vandalism?

18. Yep - why would he make that comment - there is no logic there
other than he did it, or the person writing the article made it up.

10. Attacking property is NEVER right
all it does is result in higher premiums for the rest of us as the insurance companies spread the cost around the pool.

Dammit, my property insurance is high enough after one of the neighborhod kids broke the wall I have out in front of my house and I had to have a couple dozen bricks replaced.

14. Have you noticed???
When ever some body's office is broken into, when a headquarters computers are taken and when violent attacks and verbal attacks are made it is usually to the democrats and their candidates and their headquarters. Never the republicans.
