Some 19,400 people could be dropped from the state’s voter registration rolls next week, including nearly 1,500 in East Baton Rouge Parish.
It’s the last group out of a list of 55,000 state voters whose names have shown up on the voter rolls of other states.
Initial notices went out in mid-June giving the voters 30 days to prove they have canceled their registration in another state or that a mistake had been made.
A second notice went out in late July, which gave voters another 21 days to clear up any problem.
Records released Thursday by the Secretary of State’s Office identified 19,405 voters who could lose their Louisiana voter registration by the end of the day on Wednesday, Aug. 15.
About one-third of the 19,405 voters — 6,771 — are registered in Orleans Parish. Another 2,603 are in Jefferson Parish; 1,497 in East Baton Rouge Parish; 1,363 in St. Tammany Parish; 1,075 in Calcasieu Parish; and 918 in Lafayette Parish.
