The Houses of Congress Are Being Destroyed by the Republicans.

Is this going to be the pattern for the next 2 years? Shutting down debate on anything of substance and pissing in the machinery of our government. I believe it will backfire but in the meantime we have no government. IT IS ALL POLITICS. NOTHING ELSE. IMHO

1. I suppose we can take some comfort in that
they will poison the water enough that they can't get any of their crap passed either.

ONe hopes.

2. on the other hand, they are showing us how much we COULD have accomplished
as the minority party, if we weren't concerned about keeping out powder dry.

In other words, the repukes are not too timid to do everything they can, even when outnumbered. Like cockroaches, I don't want them around, but I think we can learn a lesson from their persistence.

7. I disagree most strenuously, I think it is time to shut them down!
I suggest they desire only to engage in clever parliamentary games, so let us do so. Let us exercise the power of our newfound majority and use the closed rules they so favored, we tried to use an open rule, offer bipartisanship, and they flung it in our faces for their own political gain. No more, I say, no more!

10. But you posted nothing that is in direct disagreement with Lerkfish.

You both seem to be saying that we should shut them down- Lerkfish just suggested that perhaps we could have done it a long time ago.

Time will tell if Republican obstructionism will work- I think it can to a degree if we keep playing nice like we always seem to have done in the recent past.

6. I've been watching CSpan for 2 + hours (folding laundry)
It was shocking. I wish all Americans could have watched the last 2 hours - they would throw the 'silly' Republicans out on their keisters.

9. If they could show 1/4 of that passion for ending the war, it would be over tomorrow.

8. I'm actually a fairly big fan of divided government for this very reason
The less they actually do, the less damage they can do.

12. Yes, it worked once
why not do it again?

But you get the price

They DO NOT believe in the Constitution or our system of government and will do ALL IN THEIR POWER to destroy the systm or subvert it, at all times staying just on this side of the law with procedure
