How has the war on drugs affected you personally? Did we win? Are we still fighting this war? How long ago did we declare it? Was it under reagan?

How has the flow of marijuana been affected in your neighborhood? Do you know any crack heads or meth zombies?

Are we making any headway to control illegal drugs? In the war on drugs, whose side are you on? Are you one of the good guys, or one of the bad guys?

Will we ever declare victory, or will it just go in for fucking ever like Iraq?

1. They've at least won a couple battles
judging by the garbage I'm smoking this morning.

2. Send for Goebbels!
GOEBBELS: Heil, baby! I just finished laying the morning propaganda on the people.

LSD/Hitler: What did you tell them?

GOEBBELS: I told them we invaded England.

LSD/Hitler: Hey, baby, that's good! How'd we do?

GOEBBELS: We beat em!

LSD/Hitler: Groovy!

4. Although they won a few skirmishes, the major battle was lost

around here a long time ago. While marijuana growing has been reduced, a big patch was discovered in the last few days at the local airport:

Marijuana grown at Fort Smith Airport

FORT SMITH, Ark. (AP) - Police say someone planted and maintained a patch of marijuana plants at the Fort Smith Airport, but the plot was dug up before any arrests were made.

The biggest drug problem we have around here now is meth:

Arkansas has one of the highest methamphetamine addiction rates in the country and, according to experts at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS), the abuse of meth can lead to a different kind of abuse – child abuse.

Edited to add:

(CBS/AP) As teenagers say drug problems at school are getting worse, many parents are expressing doubts about ever making such schools drug free, and a majority of parents are seemingly less concerned about drug dangers, a new study says.

The percentage of teens who say they attend high schools with drug problems has increased from 44 percent to 61 percent since 2002, and the percentage in middle schools has increased from 19 percent to 31 percent, according to the survey to be released Thursday by Columbia University's National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse

5. Anytime our Government Declares War on Anything the the Complete Opposite Happens.
The War on Poverty in the 1960s, more people now live in poverty.

The War on Drugs in the 1980s, more people now do drugs.

The War on Terrorism, 2001, more fucking terrorists than ever before.

I just hope they never declare war on stupid people in government, because the last thing we need is more fucking idiots on the hill.

7. We haven't given it enough time
if we don't start seeing results within the next 150 years, I say we try something else. You must remember that real brilliance is when you keep trying the same thing and you expect different results.

12. It's driven the prices down.
When I was 18 in 1992, before the Clinton-Wilson era crackdown, a bag of good weed was about fifty bucks, coke was around eighty a gram, and ditto for meth. Today the prices are the same. Put that in perspective: in 1992 my rent was 200 bucks a month, cigarettes cost $2.00 a pack, and $20 bought me groceries for the week. My theory is that zero tolerance makes people more willing to slash prices; a guy looking at maybe two years is not going to give you a discount, while a guy looking at thirty wants the shit out of his house!
