I'm disabled, too. I visited a man in the VA who had lived for 17 years in one room, sleeping in a bed that rotated once every 30 minutes to keep pressure ulcers at bay. He had a television and that was it. I offered to come by to read books and keep him company. He waved me off and went back to watching television.

In January I plan on returning to school to get a Master's degree in social work. I hope to work at the VA counseling newly disabled veterans. (I'm a disabled veteran, so this is my way of giving back.)
