We can just skip reading Gen. Betrayus's over hyped report.
I mean, why bother? Is there really any point in reading even one page of it, or watching one minute of his testimony, public or private?

Don't you just hate those long, meandering jokes that go on forever to set up some silly punchline? This joke don't even HAVE a punchline. We all know exactly what it will say, we knew 6 months ago, yet, we must all go through the stupid, unfunny joke again.

Wouldn't you just love to be one of the Senators who gets to question Betrayus after he delivers the whitewash? We know what he's going to say so it would be easy to prepare. Let me start:

  • General, was your report edited by the White House? If so, what parts were changed?

  • The power in Baghdad is now on for an average of only 4.9 hours a day. The estimated prewar level was 16 to 24 hours. The best post-invasion monthly average was 16.4 hours in March 2004. Isn't this a key indication that things in Iraq are getting worse and not better as you claim?

  • 500 people were killed in the August 14th bomb attacks. Do you consider this a sign of progress or do you see it a different way?

  • We have spent almost half a trillion dollars so far in Iraq, with no end in sight. 3,700 of our soldiers have been killed and 27,400 have been wounded. We really don't have anything to show for these sacrifices, do we?

  • You've said that you think we should stay in Iraq for another 10 years. Aren't you really saying we should remain entangled there forever?

it was probably written long before the bushies started looking for replacements and the primary requirement was to find a lacky to sign off on it.

public/private hearings won't matter much - petraeus will just spew out the white-wash spin
