Shipping India's Stray Dogs to Korea for Consumption??

New Delhi's stray dogs lead a difficult life. But if it was up to one city councilor, they would find themselves in more hot water soup to be precise.

Shipping the thousands of strays to Korea, where dog meat is widely consumed in soup, was one of the more outlandish ideas proposed at a city council meeting to deal with the problem, the Hindustan Times newspaper reported Thursday....

1. that should be interesting karma....do they know the Koreans torture the
dogs before killing them as the stress hormones makes the meat "sweeter". Gag me with a maggot. What is wrong with human race?

2. It is always difficult to comment
on the customs and practices of other countries. I'm obviously horrified that anyone would eat what we in west treat as pet animals. Having said that at least this issue shouldn't lead to a war which is what in reality has happened in either instances where the west has tries to insist that it's values be accepted by other countries.

3. "Mom, I'm taking Rover for a wok."
Really, how is this any different than a proposal to cull the annual Canada geese migration (a very big nuisance causing a lot of problems) and serve them up in homeless shelters? As long as the animals are healthy enough for human consumption, the animals are sold as that animal (and not under the claim of being something else like cow) and there are people willing to eat it, why not?

5. I realize that India has a problem with "hurting" animals
but, wouldn't spaying or neutering these animals help a lot with the number of them? While I can see the problem people would have with companion animals being eaten, these animals are wild. They are not companion animals, and dogs in packs can be quite vicious. But this idea coming from India of all places, is really "out there".
