Another slow-news day question. Are Log Cabin Republicans insane? |
|
As far as I can see, a gay person becoming a Republican is like a Jew becoming a Nazi.
What in the world is their rationale? Changing the party from within?? Showing Pubs that they're humans too??
For the life of me, I can't think of one reason why someone would join a group that hates the fact of their very existence. Can someone explain it to me?

1. If you hate somebody, it's easy to be a Republican. |

2. My guess is that they want The Othe to like them SOOOOOO bad.... |
|
... and they've invested so much of their validity in that, that they don't even see the wrong of what they're doing anymore.
Purely a guess and totally a generalization.

6. A couple with two male executive incomes is not going to |
|
want to belong to a party that will tax high incomes to provide for widows and orphans, it's just not going to happen, no matter what the civil rights record might be.
Like it or not, gay men can be just as narrow and self serving as anybody else is, and some of them care a lot more about their money than anyone else's rights.
I don't know why women and working people support that party, either.

7. You say "gay person"; they are just like anyone else. Some are selfish |
|
and have their own economic agenda and some have enjoyed the Bush taxcuts. Some are actually conservative and they choose to vote their own selfish interests over the total gay population. They live well, they have high incomes, they take exotic vacations and run in elite circles. Again, they are just like the rest of the population in some regards.

All I will say is that the party they cater to treats them like dung, but still has no qualms accepting their votes anyway.
