Here is a thought...
"I pray for a more friendly, more caring,
and more understanding human family on this planet.
To all who dislike suffering,
who cherish lasting happiness -
this is my heartfelt appeal."

His Holiness the Dalai Lama

9. and if so...
:)

This is my simple religion.
There is no need for temples; no need for complicated philosophy.
Our own brain, our own heart is our temple; the philosophy is kindness.

13. Wow
That statement says so much to me, looking for the why of life in the night sky, it is not what my eyes will see in its vastness beauty unknown to me, but within my quiet soul reveals to me being empty of all I know, comes to be that I am just what within I see.
I don't know, inspired thought from your post, btw thanks

6. Is "this planet" code for DU, or am I trying to read too much
into what the Dalai Lama is saying?

10. You have to play it backwards to hear the real message:
"All hail sex, drugs, rock and roll. Rebel against your parents. China sucks. Drink cheap beer and give the difference in cost to charity"

11. Geez, Amerikuns. Why does the Dalai Lama hate Amerika?
Our God don't need no trifocals. He can see you boys in your underwear without them.

That Dolly Llama dude looks funny.

And, who is that guy in the background? A terrist?

Praise Gawd, I gotta go do my tax exemptions now.

Sincerly,

Past-his Teddy Haggard

12. I love the Dalai Lama
I am not spiritual in any way but just seeing that man's face makes me smile. Hearing him speak tickles me in a way like no other. There is a man I would truly love to meet. I can't say that about many.

15. I attended a talk by the Dalai Lama
in Portland Oregon a few years back.

What I found most inspirational was simply his presence. He was funny. He was plain in talk and message. He was humble.
Yet in his humility and words was a profound sense that he "get its." Whatever "it" is --- he get it. And the message resonates regardless of faith, geography, or culture. I'd sure enjoy meeting him for lunch; funny thing is, I don't think it would feel much different then meeting a friend - even though his words inspire millions. He is that humble...

I hope in my lifetime, somehow - he can return to Tibet and practice his way of life.

18. At times like these...
that appeal is more important than ever. Truly beautiful spirit in that man and great thoughts for centering. What ever happened to a world where people listened to each other with heart and care? So hard to find now, I'm afraid.
