Honda Manufacturing starts its hiring on Sunday, but applicants for production work better be in the right zip code.

The automobile giant intends to staff its new Greensburg facility with employees who live in a 20-county area close to the plant. Folks in Hamilton, Hendricks, Boone and Morgan need not apply.

Marion, Hancock, Shelby and Johnson County residents are eligible.

... A spokesman for Honda's U.S. operations said the reason for the close proximity is rooted in simplicity: They want employees to get to work on time. The company also says that they'll draw from a base that includes Indianapolis - 1.4 million people in the 20-county area - ensuring diversity, said Jeffrey Smith, an assistant vice president for corporate affairs.
