Mortgage owned by whom?
Anyone know how to find out what group finally owns the mortgage to a house?

I'm just curious. I own more than half the value of my house, the rest is mortgaged. I think the mortgaged part is owned by Wells Fargo (it got shopped around a bit from the originator).

1. Deutsch Bank?
wells fargo is the worse around my part of the woods...we almost got a mortgage from them but we found a local savings and loan who won`t sell our paper and won`t go over 7% in 30yrs.

who do you send the payments to and go from there?

2. Check the Registry of Deeds in your county.
Every time a mortgage is sold a notice will go on record at the Registry. You can start the search by inputing the address and/or name of the person who has the mortgage. You may be able to do this on line or your can go to the Registry and people are usually very helpful. Also, whoever took out this mortgage should have gotten a notice. Check with them.

3. If owned by China?
How would the mortgage show up if it was owned by China?

I think I'll randomly check county records to see what shows up on other mortgaged properties. It should be interesting.

4. They trade them like baseball cards.. It's hard to know at any given moment
