Anyone else notice Maher looking pissed at the end?
Last night's Real Time was pretty good, actually, although it had a rough start what with sound/mic problems for Bill, but it was weird, I thought, that at the end of the show he appeared pissed, or maybe something wasn't right. He usually smiles or laughs with his guests, no matter how much he might have disagreed with them, etc. That Cheney biographer didn't say anything so awful, or so I thought..anyone else, notice Maher's manner, too?

1. I didn't really notice......
I think he was feigning anger when he got asked about the "imput of black guests" joke.

2. I do not find him at all amusing

It seems to me that Maher isn't happy with any discussion unless he can somehow bring homosexuality into it. I got tired of it by about his second show - first season. I've tried watching him a couple of times since, but its always the same old thing - every discussion, every subject, every guest. Now I don't bother with him at all.

4. Huh?
I don't think he mentioned homosexuality even once last night.

Now, religion, yes.......

5. I agree.
I haven't noticed any gay jokes, but then I don't look for them, either.

6. Plastic surgeons must be making a killing these days!
If everyone goes around looking pissed, at least half the time that I do because of BushCo, those frown lines are getting mighty deep.

Botox anyone?

7. It wasn't one of his better shows, that's all.
It started with the mic problems, and didn't get much better. Even his closing monologue kind of ended on a "blah" note.

8. I noticed he was ignoring the Repuke
while Robbins & the woman chatted with each other. Just let him sit there alone reflecting on how his talking points don't work any more.

9. Michelle Martin was worse than Hayes, because at least you know he's a baldfaced liar.
she demonstrated what an utter tool she is, like almost every member of the coroporate M$M.

she had the gall, among other things, to espouse the idea that the junta was much more likely to be incompetent than liars, who employed liars like Hayes to advance their interests

she's nothing more than a gussied up stenographer/courtesan, masquerading as a journalist

11. I got that too
She had this sort of sneer on her face when Tim would say things and then she asked him why it was he kept saying that the administration lied not just made mistakes. Tim was good though.

10. The Show Was A Techinical Clusterfuck
I've heard Mahrer is a real bastard to work for...and I could see he was pissed throughout the show. Yep, it was the mike not working at the start and then Huckabee's audio was not working (not a bad thing)...but it really can throw one's timing and that can carry on throughout the show. And those are the fuck-ups we saw...who knows what other messes happened before the show. It's not easy trying to keep the show moving, come up with witty comments, attempt to pay attention to the guests, keep track of timing and constantly have people off stage waving and sending directions...and all of this is live.

It's the first show of the season...hopefully the bugs will be worked out. While Hayes was an asshole...that was expected, I think the NPR person was a real mindblow...aping "Conventional Wisdom" and talking points in pavlovian fashion...a great example of how poor our media has become.

12. A dud panel.
He wanted to talk about Vick, but the female guest's husband was Vick's lawyer..the right wing guy was quite droll and Tim Robbins was unusually calm..

and the show started out with microphone troubles..

I think Bill was just annoyed that things did not go as well as they could have..
