I'm dumping, er, selling my Nugent LP's and cd |
|
I own three Ted Nugent albums and one cd. I've decided that I can no longer have them in my collection as he is just batshit crazy. Now I like his style of music, but his remarks are just too far over the top. And I am going to donate the money that I may get from said works of music to the ACLU, and I also am going to attempt to tell him that I am donating the money. I figure the ACLU likely drives him and his ilk insane, so where better to do something? I also don't figure to get a lot of money for the items, but as I said, enough is enough.

The only song I really liked of his was 'Stranglehold', and he's ruined that for me. I love classic rock, and I'll even go so far as to say I really like southern rock, but I won't be able to listen to Nugent anymore without thinking he's a racist, misogynist pig who probably should have dropped some acid back in the day.

3. I had the huge displeasure of seeing him in concert about 7 years ago |
|
He was opening for KISS. Said some of the the most racist, homophobic bull shit I've ever heard :puke:

5. Yeah, I saw him as well |
|
Not at the same venue as you, but it was an experience nonetheless. I nearly got into a fight with some roadie of his. I was screaming that he was a draft dodger and a coward. And he opened the show with an old Blues tune which I know for a fact was written by a black man. Nugent was wearing a Confederate Flag shirt while singing the song and I pointed that out to the roadie as well. This guy was perfectly willing to take a swing at me until I refused to back down and also told him that I am perfectly willing to defend myself. So Nugent surrounds himself with people who are just as cowardly as he is, imo.

4. I can proudly say I have never purchased any music from this piece of shit. |
|
I've been buying records since the 50s, CDs since the 80s, downloading songs since the 90s, and never purchased any Ted Nugent.

6. There was a time when I enjoyed his playing, but he's always been a pig |
|
Even as a teenage head back in the 70s, I saw how he used a none-too-subtle homophobic angle in his hype. I can't count the number of times I heard him say some variation of, "If you don't like my music, you must be some kind of queer" Honestly. It was brilliantly calculated to exploit the fear and stupidity of the adolescent male. At the time I was appalled by, and in awe of, the man's treachery. He has always been a pig.

7. Vinyl sells pretty well on ebay... |
|

...as it is harder for people to find locally. (just in case you are open to suggestions on where to sell it).
Or if you know of a store that sells vinyl records near you. Cd's are more challenging to sell, but not impossible. If it's a title that's out of print, or otherwise hard to find you'll find many wanting to buy it. Check ebay, amazon.com and if you have any local to you "The Wherehouse." I've sold a lot of old cd's to The Wherehouse. I don't always get a lot for them, but they always seem to take whatever you have.
If all else fails and you just want to get rid of his music, local libraries always welcome donations.
Good luck with your sales! :)
Oh and I agree, Nugent is gross. Great musician, but his views are repellant and seemingly from some southern, stone age, utopian paradise. ;)
