Who do you trust to rebuild NOLA?
This man?

Or how about real leadership?

Who announced his candidacy for President in the flood ravaged 9th ward of New Orleans?

Will George Bush EVER go to the 9th ward???

2. I certainly believe Edward would do his best...
and while I've not staked out a position on any of the DEM candidates, I do think NOLA would remain more on Edward's (and probably Obama's) radar screen, then perhaps Hillary Clinton's. Not to say Clinton would not be infinitely better for NOLA than the current worthless administration, just priorities seem a bit different.

7. Actually he went to the 9th Ward today
a skeptic would suggest he did so for photo op purposes or to avoid a different crowd with New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin which would not provide bush a hand picked crowd. His sorry little ass would have been booed, a skeptic might suppose.

9. I read that he visited a school
in the 9th Ward. I assumed it was the School on Claiborne and Caffin.

They also said that he ate at Leah Chase, but I thought Dooky Chase was unable to reopen.
Hubby is pretty upset about that. Claims he will never again eat over there. He'll get over it.

10. Hello NOLA Lady and a belated welcome
I'm across the state line in Pearl River County. He had his lil soire at MLK School, not sure where that is in the 9th. Used to live in Slidell, moved to MS in 2000. We lived across Pontchartrain from Salmen High School. We still do a lot of retail business there.

11. New Orleanians!
They're doing a "heckuvajob" of rebuilding without much help, and in many cases outright opposition, from every level of government, not to mention the insurance* companies. :grr:

I hereby nominate the 300,000 or so of them as Time magazine's collective "Person of the Year".

Some excellent entry points into their active and informative blogosphere may be found here:

(and yes, the "KamaAina" who keeps leaving comments all over these blogs is the same one who made this post; I lived down there many years ago, and still retain a kind of "dual citizenship".)

12. The UN

Figure:
-we don't have the money
-we don't have the resources
-we don't have the "political will"
-it would send conservatives over the edge and maybe they'd finally do what's right for their fellow Americans.
