In comparison to Larry Craig, here's the story of Jon Hinson.
Clipped from the Wikipedia article:

Jon Clifton Hinson (March 16, 1942 - July 21, 1995) was a politician from the state of Mississippi. (snip) Hinson was elected to the House of Representatives as a Republican in 1978, rising from relative obscurity when he was 36.

During his re-election campaign in 1980, Hinson admitted that he had been arrested for committing an obscene act, exposing himself to an undercover policeman, at the Iwo Jima Memorial in Arlington National Cemetery. Hinson denied that he was homosexual and blamed his problems on alcoholism. He said that he had reformed and refused to yield to demands that he resign. He won re-election with 39% of the vote because an independent candidate split the Democrat vote

Hinson ... was then arrested on February 4, 1981 and was charged with attempted oral sodomy<1> for performing oral sex on a male employee of the Library of Congress in the restroom of the House of Representatives. He resigned on April 13, 1981, early in his second term.

snip

Soon afterwards, he acknowledged that he was homosexual. His marriage ended, and he became an activist for homosexual causes.

He later helped to organize the lobbying group "Virginians for Justice" and fought against the ban on gays in the military. He also was a founding member of the Fairfax Lesbian and Gay Citizens Association in Fairfax County.

1. See? Here we have proof that bigotry and homophobia are lifestyle choices
And lifestyle choices which can be overcome through faith, prayer and belief in your own inherent self worth.

My hat is off to Mr. Hinson!

2. Techbear, that response is priceless!
Can we set up a rehab center for recovering homophobes and bigots?

3. That sounds like a capital idea
Or, given how many GOP leaders seem to be closet cases, maybe it should be a capitol idea.

4. DO YOU REALLY
want someone as creepy and disgusting as Larry Craig opening up and acting as a spokesman for gay rights?
The guy is against stem cell research, he thinks the Patriot Act should a permanent fixture, he supports domestic surveillance without warrants, he hates gay marriage, he thinks scientists should be corralled and controlled by politicians - like him, he is the perfect example of what is wrong with this country.
If someone is gay, why the HELL should they worry about it, hide it, or be forced to fear what and who they are?
And if a neighbor is gay, who the HELL should care?

5. The post in no way represented any predictions or hopes for Craig or anyone else.
It was merely a counterpoint to the Craig story.

What neighbor? I missed that point.
