1. Why waste money
in a state that is a sure thing for you if you are the nominee? Like Texas would ever go for Hillary or Obama or any other Dem.

Just like the Dems, they will put their money in the first primary states.

Duncan Hunter has no chance of being the nominee. Winning a Texas straw poll is irrelevant.

2. Maybe they knew they were outflanked.
Not sure. Texas doesn't seem like a perfect fit for Giuliani or Romney either one. McCain's immigration stance -- can I use that word? -- may not have won him much support.

In a group of party loyalitsts who appear to have feelings for Duncan Hunter, it might have been too politically risky for any of the three of them to show up.

Duncan Hunter!?

3. Romney is a Mormon, Rudy is a crossdresser, and McCain is practically a corpse.
None of those 3 things will play well in Texas.

Well, maybe the corpse.

5. It's going to be very interesting where his supporters end up when he doesn't get the nomination
I agree, he's got a much bigger crowd than anyone suspected.

6. If I had to guess, I'd say half to the Dems and half stay home.
Could be way off though. Is there any polling on that question?

7. Probably highly dependent on who gets the Dem nomination
But yeah, I'd say you're in the right ballpark.
