Labor Day Movies. Not on TCM. Not on AMC. Not on FMC. |
|
No films specific to the labor movement in America or elsewhere today on on the three big cable movie channels. This is a day not for the celebration of worker's rights and democracy in the workplace, for freedom from indentured servitude, for the appreciation of those who freed millions from wage slavery. No, this is a day to consume food and drink products of questionable nutritional value that are bought, not made from scratch, purchase products of questionable quality and utility from clearance sales, travel larges distances to do these things while consuming fossil fuel products and celebrate the films of John Wayne, apparently.

An Outrageous Comedy About Making It Big In Big Business -Upon graduation from college with a business degree, John Issel is promptly hired by Helmes's (Eddie Albert) company I.N.C.
I was in such a management team at the time (85) and was amazed at how much he got exactly correct - as to what our little right wing world was doing via CIA/Reagan (Our leader General Olmstead had Thursday dinners at the Whitehouse with Reagan).
